<b>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</b> Unit I Salary Range: $61,074 - $105,331, 10-month work year, 7.5 hours per day<br>

<b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b></div><ul><li>
High school diploma or GED.</li><li>
Five or more years of experience in industry within the last six years.</li><li>
Understanding of current trends in industry.</li><li>
Willingness and ability to lead a school-based business and education partnership.</li><li>
Willingness to teach related electives.</li><li>
Understanding of the goals of Washington County Public Schools and a commitment to their achievement.</li><li>
Positive interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents.</li><li>
Understanding of the teaching/learning/assessment process.</li><li>
Knowledge of materials in field of specialization.</li><li>
Knowledge and use of technology for instruction.</li><li>
Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.</li><li>
Knowledge of current research and its application in field of specialization.</li><li>
Maintain regular, on-time attendance.</li><li>
Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodations.</li></ul><div><b><br>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</b></div><ul><li>
Carpentry, HVAC and/or Plumbing apprenticeship journeyman status.</li><li>
Eligibility for MSDE (Maryland State Department of Education) Certification in Professional and Technical Education.</li><li>
Solid foundation in academic skills.</li><li>
Carpentry/Construction management experience.</li></ul><div><b><br>
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></div><ul><li>
Prepare each student with the skills and understanding necessary construct a house, related facilities and paperwork needed to complete such projects.</li><li>
Provide students with opportunities to achieve credit for one year of ABC apprenticeship upon graduation from the two-year carpentry program.</li><li>
Work directly and as a team member with the Student Trades Foundation house project coordinator.</li><li>
Maintain a safe classroom environment conducive to learning.</li><li>
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.</li><li>
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.</li><li>
Plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students, with high expectations for all students.</li><li>
Provide for instructional needs and interests of students with the aid of appropriate and effective daily lesson planning.</li><li>
Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings.</li><li>
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and where classroom time is utilized effectively.</li><li>
Demonstrate the use of a variety of teaching techniques and the use of a variety of instructional resources and materials to implement the essential Curriculum.</li><li>
Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.</li><li>
Demonstrate fair, firm, and consistent behavior towards students and promote self-discipline among students.</li><li>
Demonstrate effective communication skills and positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, staff, and community.</li><li>
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of school system goals and objectives by following school board policies and administrative procedures.</li><li>
Assist administrative staff and other staff members in reaching the mission of the school by applying ethical standards in professional relationships.</li><li>
Strive to maintain and improve professional competencies.</li><li>
Maintain appropriate records.</li><li>
Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.</li><li>
Serve on special committees.</li></ul><div><b><br>
