About the team
The South Asia Regional Team provides strategic leadership and effective management of WaterAid&rsquo;s country programmes in South Asia. We enable country programmes to enhance their impact by ensuring they have the skills, expertise, funding, and strategic partnerships to deliver WaterAid&rsquo;s mission in the region.
About the role
As our Regional Technical Adviser &ndash; Climate Resilient WASH, you will ensure the high technical quality of our climate resilient WASH programmes in the region and work closely with Country Programmes, partners and stakeholders to drive sustainable change.
In this role, you will:<ul>
<li>
Provide technical guidance, quality assurance and support to country programmes including for climate resilient WASH programming, system strengthening and the sustainability of WASH services.</li>
<li>Implement capacity building initiatives to enhance competencies of staff, partners and stakeholders to deliver sustainable and climate resilient WASH programming.</li>
<li>Build and strengthen strategic partnerships, the knowledge base and thought leadership in WASH and climate resilient programming through networking, knowledge sharing and advocacy.</li>
<li>Champion WaterAid&rsquo;s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.</li>
</ul>
Requirements
To be successful, you will need:<ul>
<li>
A relevant, technical qualification, e.g. a civil engineer specialized in climate resilient WASH or hold a master&rsquo;s degree relevant to climate resilient WASH from a related technical field.</li>
<li>Extensive professional experience at a senior technical level in climate resilient, WASH-related programmes for LMIC countries in the South Asia region, preferably in at least one of the countries in which WaterAid operates.
</li><li>Demonstrated experience in strengthening WASH systems and understanding of the WASH sector&rsquo;s interaction with other systems such as climate change, health, urban planning.</li>
<li>Excellent and up to date knowledge of technologies, approaches, technical standards and guidelines related to climate resilient and sustainable WASH relevant to South Asia and how to practically apply these to programming.</li>
<li>Willingness and ability to travel regionally, specifically to country programmes in Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan, and internationally (sometimes at short notice).</li>
</ul>
Although not essential, we&rsquo;d prefer you to have:<ul>
<li>
A chartered membership with a recognised professional association in a relevant technical field.</li>
<li>Proven experience of stakeholder engagement that include government, private sector, and donors with a high level of influencing skills.
