The Accident and Health Senior Financial Analyst implements financial processes supporting the core operations of the Accident and Health business unit, including premium billing and collection, commission payments, financial reporting, and internal controls.
This position engages with external program managers, administrators, intermediaries and fronting insurance companies (collectively, &ldquo;MGUs&rdquo;) to ensure processes are in place to receive accurate and timely financial and operational data that supports internal reporting requirements.
The role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and implementing effective internal controls. Working closely with Actuarial, Accounting, Claims Operations, and enterprise partners, this manager maintains the integrity of financial information across the organization and ensures compliance with enterprise financial and reporting standards. 
Key Responsibilities
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Premium, Commissions, and Claims Financial Operations
</h2><ul><li>Develop processes for the receipt of premium, commission, and claims data from MGUs, and design controls to ensure reported amounts align with business expectations and regulatory requirements.
</li><li>For business written without MGUs, ensure timely and accurate premium billing, collections, and commission payments.
</li><li>Ensure accurate reporting to accounting and financial systems, including reconciliation between accounting systems and administrative systems and databases.
</li><li>Oversee bordereaux ingestion, validation, and reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity.
</li><li>Facilitate reporting to reinsurance and retrocession partners, including calculation of profit sharing and contingent commission arrangements.
</li><li>Develop and maintain financial reporting for the Accident and Health business.
</li><li>Coordinate reporting of claim activity between claims and actuarial.
</li><li>Partner with Claims and Actuarial teams to identify anomalies, data gaps, and operational risks.
</li></ul></div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">MGU Oversight &amp; Governance
</h2><ul><li>Establish financial reporting standards, controls, and service level expectations with MGUs.
</li><li>Evaluate MGU financial reporting for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
</li><li>Monitor premium receivables, cash flow timing, and remittance activity from MGUs.
</li><li>Support MGU audits, due diligence, and performance reviews.
</li><li>Assist in the analysis of profitability by MGU, program, and product, including loss ratios and expense performance.
</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Regulatory Compliance &amp; Reporting
</h2><ul><li>Ensure all data reporting complies with enterprise standards and Department of Insurance requirements.
</li><li>Support the preparation of regulatory filings, financial exhibits, and audit requests.
</li><li>Maintain strong internal controls aligned with SOX requirements and audit readiness.
</li><li>Establish and test controls over delegated financial and underwriting authority.
</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Process Optimization
</h2><ul><li>Identify and lead initiatives to streamline financial workflows.
</li><li>Drive automation and efficiency improvements.
</li><li>Establish and enhance standards of practice for billing, commissions, and other non-claim financial processes.
</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Cross-Functional Partnership
</h2><ul><li>Coordinate closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Claims teams to provide financial insights that support reserving and pricing decisions.
</li><li>Partner with enterprise FP&amp;A and Accounting to lead budgeting and forecasting efforts for Accident and Health.
</li><li>Communicate financial insights clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
</li><li>Support onboarding and financial due diligence of new MGU or program relationships.
</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Qualifications
</h1><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (MBA or Master&rsquo;s preferred).
</li><li>5+ years of experience in financial operations within health insurance or related insurance fields.
</li><li>Strong understanding of premium billing, commission structures, bordereaux, and insurance financial flows.
</li><li>Experience with regulatory financial reporting preferred.
</li><li>Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
</li><li>Prior leadership experience preferred.
</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Preferred Skills
</h1><ul><li>Familiarity with actuarial concepts (IBNR, trend, MLR).
</li><li>Advanced Excel and data tools (e.g., Power BI).
</li><li>Experience working with insurance systems and data warehouses.

<div>Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Directly handle, manage and/or oversee commercial and financial lines Public and Private D&amp;O, Financial Institutions E&amp;O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime/Fidelity claims.
</li><li>Handle claims in accordance with Claim Handling Best Practices in all phases of the claim including through initial contact, investigation of the claim, evaluation the claim for coverage and reserving for exposure, and in the resolution and documentation of claims.
</li><li>Provide top-notch customer service through all interactions and communications including with internal and external customers and business partners.
</li><li>Review and evaluation of policies to determine coverage.
</li><li>Resolve coverage-related matters working collaboratively with outside counsel when necessary.
</li><li>Complete written reports and present claims to management, underwriting, actuary and reinsurers on claim developments as needed.
</li><li>Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts.
</li><li>Consistently communicate claim developments, exposure analyses and requests for authority to claims management.
</li><li>Participate in mediations, settlement conferences and otherwise see claims through to resolution.
</li><li>Work closely with underwriting and other business partners to review, analyze, and communicate claim trends and help develop policy language.
</li><li>Along with underwriting, attend current and prospective meetings with insureds and brokers.
</li><li>Work with and manage outside vendors, including outside attorneys to manage budgets and oversee litigation. 
</li></ul>Qualifications:
<ul><li>Minimum of 1 to 3 years&rsquo; experience at either a specialty insurance carrier and/or law firm.
</li><li>Entry level experience in public/private D&amp;O, E&amp;O or EPL.
</li><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required.
</li><li>Candidates will be required to obtain and maintain insurance adjuster licenses.
</li><li>Excellent written communication skills.
</li><li>Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, resulting in the ability to interact with all levels of management and employee population.
</li><li>Strong analytic, investigative, listening and negotiation skills.
</li><li>Experience multi-tasking, prioritizing work and working effectively in a team environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
</li><li>Experience working in a fast-paced environment, completing work with limited supervision.
</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel or transferable software packages.
</li><li>Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
