Wharton Supply Inc. of Virginia is currently looking for a purchasing agent. Wharton is a construction supplier that is looking for a purchasing agent to help maintain stock of various construction materials. The position demands a highly organized individual capable of managing relationships with multiple suppliers. The agent will work out of the Virginia office in Springfield.Responsibilities:- Purchasing various construction material, such as lumber, tools, nails, cutting blades etc.- Reviewing requests, soliciting bids, preparing purchase orders (POs), and sending them to suppliers- Make sure that the inventory is accurate for the materials they are responsible- Will be purchasing material for the VA and MD branches- Analyzing pricing and product proposals to ensure the best quality for the lowest price- Ability to work independently or as part of a team- Work with the other inside salesman to ensure that enough material is held in stock for future ordersRequirements:- High school diploma or GED required, college degree is a plus- Basic knowledge of construction material- Prior experience in purchasing- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)Job Type: Full-timePay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hourExpected hours: 45 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>401(k) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Flexible spending account</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Health savings account</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
