<div>Position Summary
The WPHPA Physician Assistant is responsible for practicing medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions. Within physician-physician assistant relationship, Physician Assistant exercises autonomy in medical decision-making a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. May include responsibility for education, research, and administrative services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
2. First Assist on surgical procedures. First and second assist on total hips and knees.
3. Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and treat illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds. Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA&rsquo;s scope of work.
4. Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
5. Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
6. Counsels patient/family on preventative health care.
7. Documents patient information and care in medical record, in confidential manner, and may maintain departmental statistical database for research purposes.
8. Demonstrates knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and physician assistants. Familiar with anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine and physical diagnosis.
9. Demonstrates skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
10. Demonstrates skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
11. Demonstrates ability to make responsible decisions within scope of PA practice.
12. Demonstrates ability to collaborate effectively with physicians on complicated cases.
13. Demonstrates ability to educate patients, families and staff in user-friendly manner.
14. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education &amp; Experience Requirements
<ul><li>Current New York State licensed Physician Assistant</li>
<li>Current White Plains Hospital Physician Assistant Collaborative Practice Agreement</li>
<li>One year experience as Physician Assistant in an appropriate clinical setting, preferred</li>
<li>Current ACLS Certification required. Proficiency in all procedures, techniques and skills listed in the delineation of privileges</li>

Position Summary
The Medical Assistant Scribe performs all clinical and office duties of a Medical Assistant as well as performs clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a clinic setting when acting in the capacity of a Medical Scribe.

<ul><li>Fulfills responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient records and documents; scheduling surgical procedures and tests; obtaining pre-certification for health care services; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stocks assigned rooms and insures par levels of supplies are maintained. Checks and completes required logs and equipment including refrigerator logs, eyewash logs, sample medications, AED, suction and other required checks.</li></ul>

Ensure that letters are mailed or faxed on a daily basis to all physicians involved in a patient&rsquo;s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record. Alert physician when chart is incomplete. Comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents and for keeping patient information confidential.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Collect, organize, and catalog data for physician quality reporting system and other quality improvement efforts and format for submission. You will assist in developing and maintaining systems to track patient follow up and compliance.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Proofread and edit all the physician&rsquo;s medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.</li></ul>

Education &amp; Experience Requirements
<ul><li>High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.</li>
<li>Successful completion of a six-month (6) to one (1) year course in Medical Assisting at an accredited school, required.
</li><li>Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), preferred.</li>
<li>As of July 15th, 2018 BLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required for all Medical Assistant</li>
<li>Medical Assistants must have their BLS upon hire or obtain within 3 months of hire.</li>
<li>Basic medical terminology, Electronic Scheduling and Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
</li><li>Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant (preferred).
