JOB DUTIES:</b></div><div></div><div><br>
<ul><li>
Performs venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks in such a manner as to obtain optimum blood specimens at a minimum of patient inconvenience.</li><li>
Monitors worklist for assigned floors and ensures specimens are collected in a timely manner; prioritizes workload appropriately.</li><li>
Prior to collection of all specimens, identifies patient per WRHS policy using patient&rsquo;s full name and date of birth. Uses bedside armband barcode scanning system as appropriate.</li><li>
Print specimen labels, and in the presence of the patient, labels specimens with patient&rsquo;s full name, date of birth, date, time, and employee number of the phlebotomist.</li><li>
Make notation on comment line of order in computer of any information necessary for the person performing the test or the ordering provider.</li><li>
Prints uncollected reports from LIS to ensure all collected samples have been received in the lab.</li><li>
Processes specimens by centrifugation as needed; uses judgement in assessing specimen suitability.</li><li>
Performs iStat ACT patient testing and Quality Control as required</li><li>
Enters data into the LIS, including collection data, cancelation of tests, and comments as appropriate.</li><li>
Enters physician&rsquo;s orders into LIS, including any comments such as fax or call comments.</li><li>
Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies.</li><li>
Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner.</li><li>
Maintains a clean and organized work environment; cleans up after themselves in the patient rooms and phlebotomy area.</li><li>
Assists phlebotomy supervisor in training of employees as appropriate.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor/director.</li></ul></div></div><div></div>
