Provides medical evaluations and treatment for adult and adolescent patients with chronic and acute health issues. Uses their expertise in primary care to provide high-quality health care and medical education. Collaborates within a healthcare team to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction. Primary Essential Duties</b></h1><ul><li>
Treats patients using a high level of quality health care based on primary care standards of care.</li><li>
Becomes an integrated part of a team approach to primary care.</li></ul><ul><li>
 Ensures coordinated medical, behavioral health addictions, legal, and nutritional care in a medical home model.</li><li>
Interacts with patients using cultural sensitivity.</li><li>
Provides and documents high-quality and efficient medical treatment to Whitman-Walker patients.</li><li>
Evaluate and treat all patients with urgent and chronic medical conditions.</li></ul><ul><li>
Performs physical examinations and other preventative health care.</li><li>
Records patient data in medical records in accordance with Medicare and other payer rules and requirements.</li><li>
Codes patient visits accurately using Medicare and other insurance standards.</li></ul><ul><li>
Performs additional diagnostic and/or therapeutic clinical procedures as necessary.</li><li>
Collaborates with external healthcare facilities to facilitate access to specialty and inpatient care.</li><li>
Actively participates in educational activities related to HIV and primary care standards at Whitman-Walker and in the community.</li><li>
Provides educational opportunities and is eager to supervise medical students, PA students, NP students, medical residents, and medical students.</li><li>
Becomes actively involved in clinical case conferences and journal clubs.</li></ul><ul><li>
Participates in quality improvement activities at Whitman-Walker.</li><li>
Assists the medical management in developing, reviewing, and updating medical services policies and protocols.</li><li>
Helps develop new protocols and policies.</li><li>
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.</li><li>
Primary contacts are with patients seeking medical treatment at Whitman-Walker Health.</li><li>
Works closely with the patient care teams to provide the highest quality, collaborative health care.</li><li>
Work is integrated between all WWH departments and outside agencies as clinically appropriate.</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Education and</b><b> </b><b>Experience</b><b> </b><b>Required</b></h1><ul><li>
Medical Doctorate or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.</li><li>
License to practice medicine in Washington, DC.</li><li>
Board certified or eligible in Family Practice, Medicine/Pediatrics, or Internal Medicine. Certification preferred.</li><li>
2 years of experience working with people living with HIV or issues related to HIV care preferred.</li><li>
Ability to provide culturally sensitive medical services to a diverse client population</li></ul><div></div><div><br>
