<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">The Role
</h2>This position supports rail and transloading operations at our Ross, ND site. The role involves hands-on work outdoors in all weather conditions, loading/unloading railcars, operating equipment, and contributing to safe and efficient railcar movement.
We are open to training candidates of all experience levels.
Once trained, employees have opportunities to travel to other Railserve locations within the region to support operations.
What you'd be doing:
<ul><li>Inspects locomotive before operating to verify specified fuel, sand, water, and other supplies.
</li><li>Receives starting signal from foreman or helper and moves controls, such as throttle and airbrakes, to move locomotive.
</li><li>Interprets train orders, train signals, and rules and regulations to operate locomotive, following safety regulations, operating procedures, and switching schedule.
</li><li>Assists crew leader in training new employees.
</li><li>Observes track to detect obstructions.
</li><li>Prepares reports to explain accidents, unscheduled stops, or delays.
</li><li>Lubricates moving parts of locomotive.
</li><li>Handle train equipment in a safe manner using independent or automatic brakes.
</li><li>Operation of hand or ground throw switches, derails, gates, etc.
</li><li>Control movement of equipment by radio, hands, and lantern.
</li><li>Apply and release hand brakes to secure or move equipment.
</li><li>Handling air hoses, wheel chocks, coupling and uncoupling of rail cars.
</li><li>Must wear required personal protective equipment.

Project Engineer Intern

Manipulate vector-based artwork and typesetting to design layouts for various monuments. Designers are expected to communicate occasional to frequently with Funeral Homes, Funeral Directors and/or Sales Reps. to problem solve &amp; clarify design instructions. Participate in all stages of the creative process, jumping in at any stage. Review orders/design instructions to create, refine and produce colored proofs for each iteration of a monument. Ability to follow instruction with ever-evolving standards. Work within an assigned design queue as part of a team.
