JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Exhibitions, the Exhibitions Assistant is a key member of the Exhibitions Department which resides within the Collections and Interpretation Division. This highly collaborative role serves as an interdepartmental liaison between the Exhibitions team and staff across the institution. These include, but are not limited to: Marketing, Interpretation and Engagement, Conservation, Registration, and Curatorial.

The Exhibitions Assistant works closely with the Manager of Exhibitions and the Director of Collections to support the development of museum exhibitions and installations from conception to installation. The Exhibitions Assistant plays a critical role in the organization and execution of all exhibitions-related activities and workflows. 


Compensation: $48,000 per year

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>
Support the Manager of Exhibitions and the Director of Collections in collaborating with Curatorial, Conservation, Registration, Facilities, Development, Marketing, Interpretation and Engagement, Finance, Membership, Gardens, and Academic Programs to ensure exhibitions, rotations, and gallery changes are successfully accomplished on deadline and with effective and efficient workflows</li><li>
Maintain individual exhibition checklists, including object lists for all installations, rotations, and exhibitions and, with the Exhibitions Manager, maintain comprehensive timelines for major workflows associated with exhibition projects</li><li>
Disperse relevant and up-to-date information about exhibitions and installations to all internal stakeholders</li><li>
Aid in scheduling and attend exhibition-related planning meetings; collaboratively prepare agendas and hand-outs and, with the Manager of Exhibitions and Director of Collections, participate in critical conversations during planning and design meetings; record and distribute notes for all meetings</li><li>
 Support the Director of Collections and Manager of Exhibitions in the development of a 3-to-5-year exhibitions schedule</li><li>
Assist with maintaining all digital exhibitions-related content on internal platforms (currently Teams) and communicate needed changes to external digital platforms to the Marketing team</li><li>
Under the guidance of the Exhibitions Manager, serve as an internal contact for exhibition-related questions and information and as needed, a contact for external stakeholders and vendors</li><li>
 Support vendors and external partners by providing exhibition information, checklists, and images</li><li>
Submit photography requests for objects associated with graphic production and exhibition-related publications</li><li>
Secure rights for exhibition content (images, videos, etc.) when necessary and maintain permissions documents to disseminate to other departments for image use</li><li>
Assist preparators with object movement, installation, and graphics production and installation when needed</li><li>
Assist the exhibitions team with the production, printing, and preparation of labels and the development of gallery interactives and media, as needed</li><li>
Ensure that all exhibitions are properly entered and archived in the collections database, project management system, and other systems/locations and archive exhibition content, design, budget and spending information, and other details for each completed exhibition</li><li>
Aid the exhibitions team with any and all exhibition related tasks and perform other duties as assigned</li></ul>
Minimum Experience: B.A; experience accepted in lieu of education, with 2+ years of working in a collections management database; knowledge of project management software; educational background in a related field

Preferred Experience: 2+ years of working in a collections management database; knowledge of project management software; educational background in a related field with experience assisting projects in a museum, academic, or nonprofit environment, particularly exhibitions; proven track record of working as part of a team to realize large projects (preferably exhibitions)

Knowledge/Skills:

Job Description:

The Public Safety Officer I provides for the safety and security of Winterthur staff, guests, visitors, Collections, as well as assets. Public Safety will provide guidance in a professional demeanor to bring all relevant situations to a resolution. They will respond to all emergencies, as well as assist in the de-escalation of conflicts on the Winterthur campus. As the first interaction a guest has with a Winterthur employee is often a member of the Public Safety Department, it is important that they provide a warm and welcoming demeanor to guests, visitors, and suppliers.

Compensation: $15.25/hr Room for advancement, opportunity to join Winterthur Fire Department, and bonus' available for those with EMT certification

Work Schedule: Flexible availability, Monday through Sunday; available shifts are 4 PM - 12 AM and 12 AM - 8 AM

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>
Respond to and investigate any type of incident involving the safety of staff, guests, assets or property.</li><li>
Provide first aid and/or CPR in the event of a medical emergency and provide guidance and physical assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation. Follow existing emergency procedures for evacuations due to any fire, flood emergency or sudden and severe weather conditions that may arise.</li><li>
Exhibit strong customer service skills during any situation, including responding to inquiries from guests, visitors, and suppliers.</li><li>
Maintain vigilance for and take pro-active steps to correct potentially hazardous situations.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures governing people, vehicles, and property by all persons on Winterthur property.</li><li>
Responsible for monitoring the security of Winterthur via computerized security systems</li><li>
Galleries &ndash; monitor 1st and 2nd floor Galleries, respond to emergencies that arise.</li><li>
House &ndash; monitor access points and floors open to patrons during self-guided tours, provide elevator escorts as needed, respond to emergencies that may arise.</li><li>
Motor Patrol &ndash; Patrol Winterthur grounds and required buildings respond to emergencies that arise; including assisting in the evacuation of Museum, Gallery, and Wing.</li><li>
Main Gate &ndash; Screens entry when not open to the public; greets and directs first time guests to Visitor Center; greet outside contractors and ensure proper direction or escort to destination; answers incoming calls and provides assistance as necessary.</li><li>
Museum &ndash; Securing exterior doors as needed, responds to medical emergencies; responds, investigates, and complete written reports on injured guests and employees. Evening &amp; Night &ndash; Walk Museum Wing, Gallery, and Research Building to monitor exterior doors and check for safety issues.</li></ul>
Minimum Experience: High school diploma or equivalent proof of education with some customer service, safety, or law enforcement experience or the ability to learn public safety duties quickly, no prior experience often is acceptable.

Preferred Experience:
First Aid Certification with 1+ years related public safety

Essential Functions:
<ul><li>
Must be able to work within the confines of the Museum or other Collection areas that require tight security and attention to detail.</li><li>
Must enjoy dealing with the public in a Cultural Property setting.</li><li>
Must be capable of performing C.P.R. /First Aid after training</li><li>
Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time; potentially 8 hours or more.</li><li>
Must be able to sit in and operate a SUV or Pick-Up type of vehicle for an 8 hour shift.</li><li>
Must be able to climb multiple stairs (9 floors), walk or stand for extended periods of time (8 hours).</li><li>
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.</li><li>
