 As a key member of the Holistic Performance Team, the Assistant Director for Sport Performance will serve as the assistant strength and conditioning coach and is responsible for establishing and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for all assigned sports, while collaborating and executing with a greater team of performance professionals to achieve optimal performance outcomes for student-athletes. This responsibility includes but is not limited to injury reduction, creating a safe training environment, improving athletic performance, teaching technique, supervising training sessions, motivating student-athletes, mobility/recovery training, continuing education, assisting teams, student-athlete testing/evaluation. This position will collaborate and work cooperatively with coaches, athletic trainers, performance team members, university partners in performance, and athletic department staff. The Assistant Director for Sport Performance is responsible for maintaining the Dan Rea &rsquo;70 Boston State College Varsity Training Facility and for upholding the mission, core values, standards, policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility.
 
 
 This position will serve as a member of the Holistic Performance Team and will support the development and implementation of UMass Boston&rsquo;s Holistic Performance Program. The program is designed to enhance individual student-athlete and team performance through a collaborative and integrated approach. The Holistic Performance Program incorporates sports medicine, athletic training, strength and conditioning, sports science, sports dietetics, and mental health/well-being.
 
 
 
 The work of the Holistic Performance Team is guided by three core goals:

 Establish and evolve a cross-collaborative, unified Holistic Performance Team.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide data-informed, holistic care to student-athletes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Cultivate partnerships to maximize program resources.
 </li>
 <li>
 The Assistant Director for Sport Performance will contribute directly to these goals and play an integral role in advancing the mission of the Holistic Performance Program.

 </ul>
 
 Examples Of Duties
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Report to and Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Sport Performance &amp; Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in creating a culture where student-athletes are put in a position to succeed and develop in their sport to provide a great student-athlete experience.
 </li>
 <li>
 Uphold and promote the mission, vision, and core values of UMass Boston Athletics and Recreation in all programs, services, and interactions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Design and implement strength training, speed &amp; agility, and conditioning programs for in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all assigned sports that are based on science and experience. Including, but not limited to strength, power, speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, recovery, return to play, etc.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with the development, implementation, and execution of the Holistic Performance Program to achieve desired goals and key performance indicator outcomes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for using Hawkin Dynamics force plates to assess key performance metrics and integrate this data into individualized training programs, track progress over time, and collaborate with coaches, and athletic trainers to optimize athlete performance. Work closely with the ultimate sport science club/team for tracking, analysis, and outcomes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Track student-athlete data to monitor progression/regression, fatigue, return-to-play protocol to optimize student-athlete performance.
 </li>
 <li>
 Promote the overall health and wellness of student-athletes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Teach and demonstrate proper exercise techniques.
 </li>
 <li>
 Work in cooperation with the coaches and sports medicine staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide general weight room supervision and maintain weight room equipment to ensure a clean and safe workspace for student athletes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Mentor interns / intern education curriculum / staff development assignments / continuing education that will support professional growth.
 </li>
 <li>
 Implement and track testing protocols for speed, agility, conditioning, strength, and power.
 </li>
 <li>
 Schedule make-up lifts for student-athletes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Requires early mornings, late nights, holidays.
 </li>
 <li>
 Motivate, inspire, and mentor student-athletes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Attend meetings
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with managing sport science club/team
 </li>
 <li>
 Manage and create content for the Holistic Performance Program social media accounts
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to safely lift and carry objects weighing over 100 lbs. as part of daily job responsibilities
 </li>
 <li>
 Required to stand and remain on your feet for extended periods throughout the workday
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for creating reports, presentations, and managing communications.
 </li>
 <ul>
 <li>
 Maintain competency with respect to knowledge of NCAA Division III rules, ensure compliance with NCAA Division III rules, and report to the Assistant AD for Compliance with knowledge of any violation of NCAA, conference and/or institutional rules. (NCAA rule violations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures. These procedures detail disciplinary action for both secondary and major violations of NCAA rules)
 </li>
 </ul>

 Any other duties assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Sport Performance and Head Strength &amp; Conditioning Coach that fall within the mission of UMass Boston (University, athletic department and strength and conditioning).

 Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Exercise Science or related field required.
 </li>
 <li>
 Master&rsquo;s degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
 </li>
 <li>
 Qualified candidates must be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
 </li>
 <li>
 At least one year of experience working as a strength and conditioning coach (includes graduate
 </li>
 <li>
 assistantships).
 </li>
 <li>
 One (1) completed strength and conditioning internship (Olympic sports, football, or private
 </li>
 <li>
 sector).
 </li>
 <li>
 CPR &amp; AED Certified.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and customer service skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
