<div></div><div>Position Summary: This position involves a long-term substitute teaching position for 6th-grade Reading and English Language Arts classes.</div>
<div></div><div><b>Specific Duties Include:</b></div>
<ul><li>Instructing students in subject content, along with reading and grading student work</li>
<li>Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students</li>
<li>Serving as an adviser to a group of Lower School students</li>
<li>Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment</li>
<li>Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress</li>
<li>Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement common course syllabi and assessments</li>
<li>Ensure continuity of instruction and maintain a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher by following lesson plans and managing classroom activities.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>

<div></div><div><b>Required Skills:</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Have a working knowledge and experience teaching Lower School students (grades 4-6)</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating tact and diplomacy</li>
<li>Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google apps, language lab software, and interactive whiteboard technology</li>
<li>A solid understanding of learning challenges, as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such</li>
<li>Strong organizational and classroom management skills</li>
<li>Experience with proficiency-based instruction in an immersive environment preferred</li>
</ul>
</div><div></div><div><b>Minimum Job Qualifications:</b></div>
<ul><li>Undergraduate degree in Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master&rsquo;s degree in education preferred</li>
<li>2+ years of successful teaching preferred</li>
<li>Independent school experience preferred, but not required</li>
</ul>
<div></div><div>The 6th Grade Reading/English Long-Term Substitute, Lower School position is a temporary position, paid at a daily rate.</div>
