Summary:</div><div>
Join Woodwell&rsquo;s 2026 Summer Internship Program as an Editorial Intern on the Marketing &amp; Communications team. In this role, help tell stories for our web and social channels that inspire hope and action in the face of the climate crisis. Must have experience writing in a journalistic style as well as an interest and ability in communicating to a public audience through narrative and storytelling in various formats, including social media. The intern will write 3-4 stories over the course of the internship, including but not limited to science explainer content, quick-turn updates, and a longer feature story, and contribute to the creation of engaging text, image, and video social content.</div><div><br>
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:</div><ul><li><div>
Brainstorm ideas for, write, and revise 3-4 original stories for publication on the Woodwell Climate website and/or Magazine (use of generative AI not permitted)</div></li><li><div>
Interview and interact with scientists to gain a better understanding of the scientific process</div></li><li><div>
Collaborate with other team members to develop graphics and/or multimedia to support storytelling</div></li><li><div>
Work with social media specialist to craft multi-channel social posts to promote stories and center activity</div></li><li><div>
Join all core communications team meetings to immerse yourself in the operations of a non-profit communications department</div></li><li><div>
Network with professionals in field of interest, including mentors, managers and other interns</div></li><li><div>
Develop and enhance skill sets within chosen scientific and/or operational programs</div></li><li><div>
Participation and learning of the Center&rsquo;s scientific interdisciplinaries and operational programs such as staff meetings, employee engagement activities</div></li></ul><div><br>

Experience with video editing or graphic design for social media or an enthusiasm to learn these skills</div></li><li><div>

Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>
Enrolled in or graduated from an associates, undergraduate, or graduate program taking relevant coursework within outlined disciplines or recent graduates in liberal arts, communications, journalism or science writing or equivalent work experience</div></li><li><div>
If remote or hybrid, must have reliable internet/wifi access and the ability to work within standard East Coast working hours</div></li></ul><div><br>

 Join the Center&rsquo;s 2026 Summer Internship Program on the Water team as a full-time field research assistant intern in aquatic ecology and water chemistry. The Research Assistant Intern will conduct field work on a project that measures water quality in Buzzards Bay estuaries using both wet chemistry and continuously-recording dataloggers. Field work will involve water collections in shallow estuaries, deployment, and maintenance of both loggers at fixed locations and loggers deployed on robotic gliders. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Scientists from the Woodwell Center, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and scientists at the Buzzards Bay Coalition, a regional non-profit organization. In this role, the intern will gain experience through field and laboratory work across fields including water chemistry, data management, and data analysis of the factors that control estuarine water quality.

 Perform complex water quality analyses under the supervision of a Project Laboratory Manager.

 Assists Project Laboratory Manager in sample receipt, sample processing including filtering, and bottle prep for water collections.

 Works under general direction of Research Associate and within standard operating procedures
 <br/>
 <br/>
 Maintains organized and up-to-date digital (files, spreadsheets) and printed (laboratory notebooks and related documents) records for tracking information including sample data.

 Prepares computer spreadsheets, input data, performs mathematical calculations and basic quality analysis and quality control protocols

 Demonstrated organizational skills, the ability to work as a member of a team, and the ability to communicate with colleagues and general public
