What You Will Do
The Procurement Coordinator will play a key role in managing and enhancing WCK's procurement activities across Gaza and Middle East operations. This role goes beyond transactional procurement, focusing on vendor expansion, cost optimization, cycle efficiency, and quality assurance. The Coordinator will lead negotiations with suppliers, streamline procurement workflows, ensure compliance with WCK standards, and deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions to support WCK's large-scale humanitarian operations in Egypt and Gaza.
Vendor Management &amp; Expansion<ul><li>
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors across food and non-food categories to diversify the supplier base.</li><li>
Build strong, transparent, and long-term relationships with local, regional, and international suppliers.</li><li>
Conduct vendor performance evaluations and ensure compliance with WCK's quality, delivery, and ethical standards.</li><li>
Drive competition among suppliers to ensure best value procurement.</li><li>
Ensure full cold chain integrity for temperature-sensitive products across sourcing, transport, and delivery.</li><li>
Develop and maintain contingency sourcing plans for critical items to ensure uninterrupted supply during emergencies, border closures, or market disruptions.</li></ul>
Procurement Cycle Enhancement<ul><li>
Oversee the full procurement cycle: PR creation, RFQ issuance, vendor comparison, PO issuance, approvals, and follow-up.</li><li>
Optimize cycle times by removing bottlenecks and ensuring smooth coordination with logistics, finance, and operations teams.</li><li>
Ensure all procurements are tracked in Airtable/ERP systems with complete visibility.</li><li>
Implement process improvements and SOPs to increase efficiency and accountability.</li></ul>
Cost Reduction &amp; Value Optimization<ul><li>
Negotiate competitive prices and commercial terms, including deferred payments,</li><li>
discounts, and free storage options.</li><li>
Benchmark prices across markets (Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, and others) to identify savings opportunities.</li><li>
Develop cost analysis reports and highlight procurement savings to management.</li><li>
Support strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce overall operational costs.</li></ul>
Quality Assurance &amp; Compliance<ul><li>
Ensure that all goods and services meet WCK's quality standards and specifications.</li><li>
Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams on packaging, palletizing, and handling requirements.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with local regulations, customs requirements, and donor/COGAT/UN2720 restrictions.</li><li>
Manage vendor audits and quality inspections where required. Strategic &amp; Analytical Contribution</li><li>
Prepare vendor comparison sheets, price trackers, and market analysis reports.</li><li>
Identify opportunities for bulk purchasing, framework agreements, and long-term partnerships.</li></ul><ul><li>
Support risk management by identifying potential supply chain disruptions and proposing alternatives.</li><li>
Contribute to strategic planning for supply chain resilience, including vendor diversification and corridor expansion.</li></ul>
Collaboration &amp; Leadership<ul><li>
Work closely with Logistics, Finance, Kitchens, Community Outreach, and Security teams to align procurement with operational needs.</li><li>
Coordinate with Finance on timely vendor payments and reconciliations.</li><li>
Train and mentor junior procurement staff where applicable.</li><li>
Represent procurement in cross-departmental committees (vendor evaluation, cost review, asset requests).</li></ul> 

Requirements 
<ul><li>
3&ndash;5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing &mdash; preferably in humanitarian, FMCG, or logistics contexts.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience in vendor negotiations and achieving cost savings.</li><li>
Proficiency in Airtable or ERP-based procurement systems is strongly preferred.</li><li>
Strong analytical skills: vendor comparison, price benchmarking, and cost reporting.</li><li>
Arabic fluency required; professional-level English for reporting and cross-team communication.</li><li>
Based in Egypt or able to work in Egypt for the duration of the contract.</li><li>
Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-moving humanitarian environments with shifting priorities.</li><li>
Experience with cold chain, customs compliance, or COGAT/UN2720 regulations is a significant advantage.</li></ul>
Working Conditions
This role requires the ability to work in high-stress, ambiguous environments with a focus on quality under operational pressure. Regular travel to vendor sites across Cairo is required. Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions are essential.
Contract Duration: This is a three (3) month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension based on operational need and performance.

Role Overview
A World Central Kitchen (WCK) Culinary QA Specialist based in Egypt will serve as the dedicated culinary presence on the ground to safeguard the quality of food procurements destined for Gaza field kitchens. This contract role bridges the WCK Supply Chain &amp; Procurement team in Egypt with the Culinary Unit Manager in Gaza, ensuring that every product inspected, approved, and dispatched meets the standards required to serve dignified, culturally appropriate meals under crisis conditions.
This position is a three (3) month fixed-term contract and reports directly to the Regional Culinary Manager, MENA.
What You Will Do
Quality Inspection &amp; Vendor Oversight<ul><li>
Conduct regular quality inspections at vendor facilities, cold stores, warehouses, and packaging sites across Egypt.</li></ul><ul><li>
Evaluate incoming and outgoing food products &mdash; frozen goods, canned proteins,grains, dried goods, and commodities &mdash; against WCK quality specifications.</li><li>
Perform sensory evaluations (taste, smell, texture, appearance) for all applicable product categories.</li><li>
Identify and document quality deficiencies including brand inconsistencies, incorrect specifications, packaging defects, and non-conforming products.</li></ul>
Pre-Dispatch Cargo Inspection<ul><li>
Inspect all cargo loads prior to dispatch to Gaza, verifying product quality, correct quantities, accurate labelling, and cold-chain integrity.</li><li>
Flag and formally escalate any non-conformities to the Supply Chain Manager and Culinary Unit Manager before dispatch is authorised.</li><li>
Ensure that rejected or flagged products are not dispatched until issues are</li><li>
resolved or replaced.</li></ul>
Vendor Engagement &amp; Feedback<ul><li>
Communicate WCK culinary standards, taste preferences, and quality expectations directly to vendor teams.</li><li>
Provide structured, documented feedback to vendors on product performance &mdash;taste, texture, consistency, and adherence to agreed specifications.</li><li>
Support the qualification of new vendors and products through organised tasting and evaluation sessions.</li><li>
Build professional relationships with vendor representatives to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.</li></ul>
Coordination &amp; Reporting<ul><li>
Maintain close communication with the Culinary Unit Manager, Gaza, to stay aligned with kitchen needs, menu requirements, and Palestinian/Gazan culinary standards.</li><li>
Liaise regularly with the Supply Chain Manager on procurement schedules, vendor visits, and quality action items.</li><li>
Submit weekly quality inspection reports to the Regional Culinary Manager covering all inspections, issues identified, and actions taken.</li><li>
Maintain an ongoing product quality log tracking approvals, rejections, and vendor performance by category.</li></ul> 

Requirements 
<ul><li>
Professional culinary background with a minimum of 3&ndash;5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, food production, or food quality environment.</li><li>
Familiarity with Palestinian and Gazan cuisine is strongly preferred and considered a significant advantage for this role.</li><li>
Arabic fluency required; working-level English for written reporting.</li><li>
Based in Cairo or able to relocate to Cairo for the duration of the contract.</li><li>
Willingness to conduct regular vendor site visits across the greater Cairo area.</li><li>
Detail-oriented, assertive in quality standards, and a clear and professional communicator.</li><li>
Prior experience with a humanitarian organisation or NGO food operations is an asset but not required.</li></ul>
