GENERAL FUNCTIONUnder the direction of the Early Learning Director, the Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for infants and toddlers. The teacher provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports each child&rsquo;s physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.Major emphasis is placed on program excellence, relationship building with families, and providing quality care of the highest standard. The Infant/Toddler Teacher ensures that classroom activities, schedules, and routines follow established program plans and comply with all Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) regulations and YMCA policies.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES<ul><li>Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.</li><li>Embraces new approaches and discovers ideas to create a better member experiences.</li><li>Accepts and demonstrates the Y&rsquo;s values.</li></ul>SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans for infants and toddlers.</li><li>Provide attentive care including feeding, diapering, comforting, and maintaining daily routines.</li><li>Maintain accurate daily records including feeding schedules, diaper changes, naps, and developmental observations.</li><li>Ensure parents/guardians sign children in and out daily and communicate regularly with families regarding their child&rsquo;s development and care.</li><li>Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and parents.</li><li>Maintain a safe, sanitary, and stimulating classroom environment.</li><li>Supervise children at all times in accordance with YMCA and MSDE regulations.</li><li>Observe and support each child&rsquo;s developmental milestones and social-emotional growth.</li><li>Expand job knowledge and classroom skills on an ongoing basis through professional development.</li><li>Assist with organizing classroom and center events.</li><li>Perform other tasks related to the operation of the early learning center and follow established childcare policies.</li><li>Attend all required meetings and training sessions.</li><li>Complete the following training within 30 days of hire: Redwoods, First Aid, CPR, YMCA online training, and MSDE required health and safety training.</li><li>Maintain all required training and certifications as required by MSDE and the YMCA of Hagerstown.</li><li>All other duties assigned.</li></ul>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.</li><li>Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).</li><li>Ability to remain clam, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).</li><li>Ability to be flexible and willing to adjust to change.</li><li>Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.</li><li>Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.</li><li>Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather).</li></ul>EFFECT ON END RESULTS<ul><li>Meet children&rsquo;s developmental needs and ensure an environment that promotes growth and learning.</li><li>The YMCA will be recognized by the community as providing excellent service to all who walk through our doors or contact us on the phone.</li><li>The YMCA will effectively connect and build relationships with its members and the community, resulting in increased member enrollment and retention.</li><li>Consistent, superior member service and satisfaction resulting in continued growth in membership, programs and special services.</li></ul>GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>Incumbent must be at least 19 years of age and possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with infants and/or toddlers in a licensed childcare setting.</li><li>Incumbent must have completed the Infant/Toddler Curriculum course as required by MSDE regulations.</li><li>Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.</li><li>Incumbent must be able to respond appropriately to safety and emergency situations.</li></ul>Pay: $17.00 - $18.10 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Retirement plan</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Infant care: 2 years (Required)</li></ul>License/Certification:<ul><li>Infant &amp; Toddler Certification (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
