– Project Manager

The Project Manager will oversee end-to-end project execution for fabrication, steel structures, and industrial erection works. The role involves coordinating design, material planning, fabrication activities, site erection teams, and ensuring projects are delivered within timeline, cost, and quality standards. This position requires strong technical understanding of fabrication drawings, welding processes, material specifications, and site execution challenges.

Reporting To: Director – Projects / Operations Head

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Coordination

• Prepare project schedules, activity charts, and resource plans for fabrication and erection work.
• Review fabrication drawings (GA & detailed) and coordinate with the design/engineering team to resolve discrepancies.
• Plan material requirements (plates, beams, channels, consumables) and raise requisitions to procurement.
• Develop manpower and equipment deployment plans for workshop and site.

2. Fabrication Management

• Coordinate with the fabrication shop to ensure smooth workflow of cutting, bending, welding, assembly, and finishing processes.
• Monitor daily fabrication progress and ensure adherence to production targets.
• Resolve shop floor issues related to drawing clarity, material availability, or sequence planning.
• Ensure compliance with welding procedures, WPS, PQR, and quality requirements.

3. Site Execution & Erection Monitoring

• Coordinate transportation and logistics for dispatch of fabricated items to site.
• Ensure proper site readiness, erection sequence, and alignment with client/site engineer.

4. Client & Consultant Coordination

• Act as the central communication point for clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Attend project review meetings, provide progress reports, and address client queries.
• Secure approvals for drawings, material, and work progress.
• Maintain strong customer relationship to ensure repeat business.

5. Cost Control & Budget Management

• Prepare project cost estimates including material, fabrication hours, site manpower, and logistics.
• Track actual cost vs. budget and implement corrective measures to avoid overruns.
• Approve vendor bills, subcontractor invoices, and fabrication labour charges.

6. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure fabrication quality as per standards (IS codes, client specifications, QAP).
• Inspect fabrication fit-ups, weld quality, surface finishing, and final assembly.
• Maintain documentation including test certificates, inspection reports, and QC logs.

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed project records including drawings, revisions, approvals, MOMs, and progress sheets.
• Prepare weekly and monthly project reports for management.
• Ensure timely submission of RA bills and work completion certificates.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and structural standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical documents.
• Good project management and planning skills.
• Excellent communication and client-handling abilities.
• Monitor erection progress and resolve on-site challenges promptly.
• Ensure safety standards and proper installation practices at site.
• Leadership skills with the ability to manage workshop and site teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.Tech in Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
• 7 to 9 years of experience in steel fabrication, structural manufacturing, PEB, or heavy engineering projects.
• Experience in planning, monitoring, fabrication shop management, and site erection is essential.

Work Environment & Conditions

• Combination of office, fabrication workshop, and site visits.
• Travel may be required depending on project location.

Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD (basic), and ERP systems (optional).

• Problem-solving mindset with quick decision-making ability.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹780,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
