1.0 FTE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - CUTLER SCHOOL - Remaining of SCHOOL YEAR 2025-2026The Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District is seeking a highly skilled Special Education Teacher at the Cutler School. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for the implementation of students Individual Education Program (IEP) in accordance with state and federal special education regulations and in collaboration with general education teachers and related therapies staff. Primary responsibilities include case management, co-teaching, and providing small group and/or individual academic instruction within a learning center setting in grades K-5. REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Special Education Teacher reports to the Principal, Elementary Special Education Coordinator and Director of Student Services.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Licensure in Moderate Special Needs, PreK-8 through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education required; Masters degree preferred;Minimum three years experience working in a school setting with students with disabilities required;Proficient in understanding diagnostic procedures, use and interpretation of various assessment tools, and goal/program/IEP development required;Training and experience in using scientifically researched, systematic and multi-sensory programs (ie.
Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Project Read, LiPS) required;Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing required;DUTIES: Serve as case manager and primary contact for parents and teachers associated with assigned students special education programs.Develop and coordinate schedule of support services in collaboration with general education staff and related therapies staff and in compliance with the students IEPs.Progress monitor students on caseload through the use of specific data collection measures and based on students goals as outlined in IEPs and develop quarterly progress reports for each student on caseload. Evaluate students, as assigned, through the special education TEAM process for initial and three-year evaluations, and attend IEP meetings.Consult, interpret, document and coordinate student information for assessments/evaluations, IEP development, progress reports, ESY.Collaborate with general education staff and teaching assistants to support the successful integration of students.Provide direct instruction in small group and individual instructional sessions in the development academic and organizational skills as outlined in students IEPs.Chair annual review Team meetings and facilitate the development of student IEPs.Participate in Initial, Three-year, and Progress meetings. Participate in special education department meetings, building meetings, and district meetings, as required.Maintain familiarity of regulations and policies related to special education.Other duties as designated by the Building Principal, Elementary Special Education Coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
