NDCR is a private, Catholic, college prep high school based in Methuen, Massachusetts serving 280 economically disadvantaged youth. The school is part of the Cristo Rey Network, a growing association of 42 schools across the United States whose education model is built around the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), a unique and highly successful partnership with the business community developed by the Jesuits and expanded nationally by a $21 million investment by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Cassin Educational Initiative Foundation. Through the CWSP, each of our students works five full days per month during the academic year at one of 74 companies throughout the Merrimack Valley, I-93/495 corridors, and southern New Hampshire. Students earn approximately 35% of the cost of their own education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Teach two sections of English, World Literature (10th grade)

· Use developmentally and behaviorally age-appropriate tools, materials, activities

· Maintain all pertinent records in PowerSchool

· Create a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students

· Design and create appropriate lesson plans. Implement the History/Social Studies Curriculum aligned with the Cristo Rey Standards.

· Collaborate with other teachers, instructional leaders, and partners to ensure instructions is meeting the needs of all students

· Assess students regularly, analyze data, and determine appropriate next steps for instruction

· Build relationships and communicate regularly with students and their families to solicit input and share academic progress

· A desire to teach English Language Learners

At NDCRHS, The Librarian is responsible for

1. Maintaining and understanding the collections (2,000 books) in the library, including such categories as Fiction, Graphic Novels, Biographies, Poetry, Classic Literature, and Shakespeare. Plus, such non-fiction topics as Religion, Social Justice, Social Studies, Math, US History, World History, World Wars I and II, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the US Civil War.

2. Ordering and cataloging new books requested by students and Faculty/Staff members.

3. Checking out/in books for students and Faculty/Staff patrons.

4. Overseeing a number of Study Halls scheduled for the library and other classrooms.

5. Attending Faculty meetings and Professional Development sessions.

6. Being present in the library before school in the morning for students wishing to make use of the library (< 15 – 30 minutes).

7. Printing papers, as needed, for students (many students do not have printers at home).

8. Being an asset, as needed, to cover for other teachers as a substitute teacher.

9. Interface with public libraries in Methuen, MA and Lawrence, MA, where programs may exist for students, including access to databases.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Teachers must possess:

1) Bachelor’s Degree in English, Creative Writing, Literature, Journalism, Classics or a related field; master’s degree preferred.

2) Experience teaching in a Catholic high school preferred.

3) MA Secondary Teaching License preferred

4) Willingness to promote the vision and values of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur

5) Knowledgeable, sensitive, and inclusive of all cultures, in particular those served by NDCR

6) Knowledge of Spanish a plus

SALARY RANGE:

The salary for this position ranges from $44,000–$60,000, based on experience and educational qualifications. Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School offers opportunities for professional growth, leadership development, and increased compensation over time.
