Qualifications:
- Must live in the Coachella Valley and surrounding areas. Please, do not apply if your are looking for a virtual teaching position or do not have enough time to commit to a minimum of 5 students and 10+ hours weekly, especially in the afternoons.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be a native and fluent Spanish speaker.
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Spanish, education, phycology, liberal arts, translation, linguistics, communication, or related field. (If a you are a college student, must be enrolled in accredited college/university with a minimum of 80 credits working towards a bachelor's degree in Spanish.)
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) in academic Spanish and English.
- Nurturing, creative, and patient demeanor with kids and adults.
- Computer literate: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. ; Zoom, etc.
- First Aid and CPR Preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Under the director's leadership, participate in the planning and implementation of the Spanish program provided by the Cruz Language Academy LLC.
- Develop lesson plans and provide instruction according to the curriculum outlined in the program for face-to-face, in-person classes.
- Scaffold students (one-on-one) in the implementation of weekly lesson plans according to the Spanish program.
- Communicate with K-12 students and adults at an age-appropriate level. clarifying vocabulary, grammar, and syntax structures for better understanding of Spanish.
- Apply pedagogical methodologies, methods, techniques to help learners acquire and master learning objectives.
- Maintain a safe and calm environment inside the classroom and in all email communication with students,
- Perform academic and managerial activities as needed.
Experience: at least 3 years working with K-12 students and/or adults as a teacher, tutor, or the like.
Job Type: Part-time (Independent contractor, hourly base)
Schedule: TBD in the mornings or afternoons according to the students' availability.
Location of lessons: La Quinta Public Library
