1st Shift Forklift Operator / Backup CDL Driver

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator / Backup CDL Driver to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for safely operating a forklift to support warehouse and yard operations, including loading, unloading, and material movement.

In addition, this position will serve as a backup CDL driver when needed, providing coverage for driver absences, peak demand, or operational support. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, flexible, and comfortable working both in a warehouse and yard environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Forklift & Warehouse Operations (Primary):

• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, move, and stack products and materials.
• Transport raw materials, finished goods, and packaging throughout the facility.
• Support shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report any issues to maintenance.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with GMP and safety standards.
• Assist with inventory movement, palletizing, and general warehouse duties as needed.

Yard & CDL Backup Support (Secondary):

• Provide backup support as a CDL driver when needed for coverage or operational demands.
• Safely move trailers within the yard or between facilities as required.
• Assist with spotting trailers and ensuring proper placement for loading/unloading.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections when operating CDL vehicles.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company driving policies.

General Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with warehouse, transportation, and leadership teams.
• Adhere to all safety policies, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
• Complete required documentation, logs, and reports accurately.
• Support team operations and assist in other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Valid IL CDL license (required) with a clean driving record.
• Experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Previous yard spotting or driving experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of safety standards and warehouse operations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to operate equipment and climb in/out of forklifts and trucks.
• Capability to work extended shifts as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Combination of indoor warehouse and outdoor yard work.
• Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Work around moving equipment, machinery, and vehicle traffic.
• Moderate to high noise levels depending on work area.
