About Francis Parker School:
Parker is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1,330 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world.” Parker has two campuses: one in Mission Hills (Lower School, Junior Kindergarten - Grade 5), and a second in Linda Vista (Middle and Upper School, Grades 6 - 12).
Job Description:
Francis Parker School seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate teacher to teach in our 6-12 World Language Department.
The Middle School, which includes grades 6-8 and enrolls 300+ students, is a lively and dynamic place. True to the vision of the school’s namesake, Colonel Francis W. Parker, the Middle School emphasizes the importance of learning through doing. A rigorous curriculum guided by a passionate and caring faculty nurtures in students a lifelong love of learning.
The Upper School, which includes grades 9-12 and enrolls 500+ students, is a rigorous and supportive academic environment focused on preparing students for intellectual engagement while in high school and in the years beyond. Building on the work of the Lower and Middle Schools, the Upper School emphasizes academic achievement, global citizenship, and strength of character in order to prepare students to make a meaningful difference in the world.
The preferred candidate will have a depth of content knowledge that equips them to teach in the Upper School, while also having the broad teaching repertoire required for a range of both learners and grade levels. Innovation, creativity, variety in teaching methods, and use of technology to bring the Spanish speaking world alive for our students is required. Candidates must be able to work creatively and collaboratively within the scope and sequence which is guided by ACTFL standards to create a challenging environment that invites respect for all, while consistently assessing student growth to inform students and parents of progress. Parker has a commitment to inclusion and diversity, and expects faculty to discover and leverage natural points in the curriculum to embrace these values. For this Long-Term teaching assignment courses will include, Middle School Spanish Language and Culture, Spanish 2, and Spanish 5. Co-advising a cohort of Upper School students is also part of this role.

The long-term sub rate is $250 per day. This position is not eligible for benefits.
