    POSITION TITLE: 2025 Recharge Director

    SUMMARY


    The Recharge Director serves as the instructional and operational lead for the RECHARGE tutoring program. This role includes providing intensive academic intervention to students, coordinating the daily operations of the program, and ensuring strong communication among staff, students, and families. The Recharge Director is responsible for planning, monitoring academic growth, supporting staff, and contributing to a positive and productive learning environment.

    Program Leadership & Coordination


    • Assist in the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the RECHARGE tutoring program.
    • Lead regular team meetings to review student progress, discuss instructional strategies, address program needs, and ensure effective communication across staff.
    • Collaborate with administrators to ensure program structures, schedules, and expectations are aligned and functioning smoothly.

    Student Selection


    • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to identify students who would benefit from participation in the RECHARGE program.
    • Review academic data, attendance patterns, behavioral indicators, and teacher referrals to determine eligibility and prioritize students with the greatest need.
    • Ensure student selection follows equitable and transparent criteria and reflects the diverse needs of the school community.
    • Communicate with identified students and families regarding program expectations, schedules, and required commitments.
    • Monitor enrollment and work with staff to adjust groupings, caseloads, or supports based on emerging student needs.

    Student Support & Academic Intervention


    • Provide specialized individual and small-group academic intervention to at-risk students in assigned subject areas.
    • Work with teachers and staff to identify student needs, learning profiles, and appropriate intervention strategies.
    • Track student academic growth.
    • Submit written progress reports and maintain accurate documentation for each student.

    Family & Community Communication


    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student participation, progress, concerns, and next steps.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for families with questions about RECHARGE services or student needs.
    • Support ongoing engagement with families to promote student success and consistent participation.

    School Climate & Student Management


    • Support positive student behavior by modeling expectations, reinforcing program norms, and addressing behavioral concerns in alignment with program policies.
    • Assist with student discipline within the RECHARGE program, including documentation, communication with families, and coordination with administration when necessary.
    • Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.

    Assessment & Data Use


    • Interpret assessment data, classroom performance, and progress monitoring results to inform instructional planning and intervention decisions.
    • Participate in collaborative meetings (e.g., student support teams) as needed to discuss at-risk students and recommended supports.

    Availability & Support


    • Be accessible to students and families for academic support, questions, and guidance.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with teachers and administrators regarding student progress and program needs.
    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    COMPUTER SKILLS:
    Basic knowledge and experience with standard hardware and software applications. Ability to use computer for email, word processing, accounting, databases and presentations.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Ability to apply knowledge of current research and teaching competencies to instructional program. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies and the code of professional responsibility for teachers.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.     DATE OF SERVICE: As soon as possible - January 15, 2026
    15 hours per week for the 8 weeks of the program (120 hours); approximately 25 hours of preparation
    2:15pm - 5:15pm


    SALARY: $5832.42 stipend**
