    OVERVIEW

    Bayfield School is looking for a full-time Transportation Coordinator to support the daily operations of student transportation services. This position ensures safe, efficient, and reliable transportation for students by coordinating routes, schedules, and driver assignments in alignment with district policies and safety standards.

    Bayfield School District is located in the mountains of Southwest Colorado and is a short drive to Purgatory Resort, Wolf Creek Ski Area, and historic Durango.     QUALIFICATION

    • Possess a CDL Class B with Air Brakes, Passenger and School Bus endorsements; will train if needed.
    • Must complete required CDE New Supervisor training
    • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Be a minimum of 21 years of age, have a satisfactory driving record as determined by The Board of Education and acceptable to the district's insurance carrier.
    • Must pass annual Motor Vehicle check, Driving Performance test, Skills Test, Mountain Driving and Adverse Weather tests.
    • Must practice confident and safe / cautious driving in inclement weather conditions.
    • Must pass the Department of Transportation's physical exam when required.
    • Needs to possess strong communication skills, ability to handle confidential matters, excellent tact and interpersonal skills.
    • Must obtain First Aid certificate within three months of employment.
    • Must pass random drug and alcohol testing, to be administrated by an outside licensed agency.
    • Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.
    • Completed and submitted BSD on-line application.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.     • Coordinate routes; including creating, reducing and expanding as necessary.
    • Responsible for completing and submitting all required state reports in a timely and accurate manner. Including but not limited to CDE, High Cost, and Star Review.
    • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, schedule repairs and replacement when necessary.
    • Manages transportation budget processes, including tracking receipts and invoices, supporting budget planning, and overseeing fuel cards, wash cards, and propane bid coordination.
    • Fill in as a substitute driver when ever needed.
    • Manages personnel functions including payroll coordination, staff training, maintenance of Driver Qualification Files, oversight of drug testing programs, Clearinghouse compliance, and New Driver Training (ELDT).
    • Must observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
    • Must enforce bus rules and regulations in accordance with Board approved polices of the school district.
    • Must maintain discipline and safety with all students on the bus, and follow established student discipline procedures.
    • Engages in ongoing professional development by staying current on federal, state, and CDE regulations.
    • Oversee mechanic operations and ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Have knowledge of and experience with proper procedures for emergency bus evacuations including location and use of all emergency equipment.
    • Coordinate and perform evacuation drill as required by CDE and or the district.
    • Properly operate a two-way radio within the Federal Communication Commission guidelines
    • Retain all required annual testing with passing scores.
    • Attend TAC meetings
    • Required to attend and participate in all staff meetings, in-service training and related activities including training to increase skills as required.
    • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
    • Participate in District Safety training and be prepared to help in evacuations.
    • Participate in professional development for continuous learning.
    • Provides on-call support outside of regular working hours to address transportation trips and emergent needs.
    • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING

    SALARY

    Per the Bayfield School District Transportation salary schedule based on education and years of experience.

Operate specialized transportation equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and frequently required to walk and must be able to stand up frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. The employee frequently communicates through speech.
