We are excited to be recruiting for a Health Protection Nurse to join our team based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre in Dumfries. This post is full-time and permanent.

This role would suit a nurse with an interest in Public Health. We are looking for someone who is caring, compassionate and motivated to join our small but highly skilled nursing team. The postholder will be part of a multidisciplinary team comprising of Nurses, Consultants and business support to provide the operational response to the prevention and control of communicable diseases and environmental hazards impacting on the health of the population of Dumfries and Galloway.

You will work as an essential member of the team to provide a robust response to the control of communicable disease. You will work collaboratively with wider public health teams and external key stakeholders such as Environmental Health Officers, Care Home settings and Infection Prevention and Control Teams. You will be expected to deliver across a range of health protection activities including service planning; development and implementation of policies, protocols, and guidelines; and the provision of evidence-based advice to patients, communities, healthcare teams and other professionals.

You will need to be a confident communicator who is able to work both independently and as part of a diverse team. You will be a Registered Nurse, with significant post registration experience, including clinical experience ideally in a related discipline. Experience in infection control, infectious diseases, or an area of public health would be beneficial.

Health Protection nursing core hours are Monday Friday 9am 5pm, however given the reactive nature of Health Protection, there may be some flexibility required.
