Recruitment Notice for the Position of Entry Level – Firefighter

NOTICE OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION - ORDER #2026-008

Interested persons must request the application on the City of Del Rio website and to receive on your personal email account. In person requests will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact the Human Resources / Civil Service, at (830) 774-8552.

The employment process includes a written examination, physical agility test (see video at this link Physical Agility Test), background investigation, oral interview, drug screening, physical examination, and psychological examination.

Each person desiring to take an entry level entrance examination shall complete an application approved by and provided by the Commission. Such application must be signed by the applicant in handwriting. In order for an application to be complete, and all information requested must-be provided

Entry level Recruit Firefighters shall serve an 18-month probationary period.

Entry level Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certified firefighters serve a 12-month probationary period.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY:

• Between 18 - 45 years of age (at time of entrance examination).
• High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent (copy of document required).
• Must be able to read and write the English language and meet all legal requirements for future certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the Texas Department of State Health Services.
• Must be a U.S Citizen (proof required).
• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.

AGILITY EXAMINATION (for those candidates who pass the written examination)

Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2026

Place: Howard Baughman Fire Station, 100 Amistad Blvd., Del Rio, TX

Time: 1:00 p.m.

Eligibility list for this Entry Level – Fire Examination will remain in effect for 12 months from the date of testing.
