TITLE: Title I Elementary Tutor

TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time (Up to 32.5 hours/week); Immediate start date through the end of the FY 26 school year; salary $32/hour, commensurate with experience

LOCATION: District, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

The Title I Elementary Tutor works under the direction of the Directors of Elementary Literacy and Mathematics and the Principal to provide tutoring and support for students. The tutor creates and delivers plans for each student to help them develop literacy and/or math skills and knowledge.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION:
This position is classified as Non-Exempt.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The Elementary Tutor reports to the Principal and the Directors of Elementary Literacy and Mathematics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited college or university, in Literacy, English Language Arts, Math, Education, or related field;
  • Ability in, and understanding of, current literacy and mathematics practices;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children and adults;
  • Ability to take direction to carry out tutoring plans;
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.


DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivers instruction in one-to-one or small group settings both in the classroom and in pull-out settings with input from classroom teacher and the Directors of Elementary Literacy and Mathematics;
  • Analyzes results from a variety of assessments to determine progress toward intended outcomes and uses these findings to adjust practice and identify and/or implement differentiated interventions for students;
  • Continuously monitors students’ grasp of the tutoring content, maintains anecdotal records on the same, and reports progress to the students’ teachers;
  • Consistently uses instructional practices that are likely to motivate and engage most students in the content of the lesson;
  • Creates and maintains a safe and collaborative learning environment that motivates students to take academic risks, challenge themselves, and claim ownership of their learning;
  • Support teachers in delivering required assessments;
  • Works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other staff;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work involves student interaction, and is performed in small group settings inside and outside the classroom. Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, and stooping to assist students, may be necessary.
