A Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and controlling the manufacturing or production process in a company to ensure products are made efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop production plans based on sales forecasts and customer orders.
- Schedule workflow to meet deadlines.
- Resource Management:
- Manage manpower, machinery, and materials effectively.
- Ensure optimal use of equipment and resources.
- Quality Control:
- Maintain product quality standards.
- Implement quality assurance processes and corrective actions.
- Supervision and Team Management:
- Lead production staff and supervisors.
- Train, motivate, and evaluate team performance.
- Cost and Efficiency:
- Control production costs and minimize waste.
- Implement process improvements to increase productivity.
- Coordination:
- Coordinate with departments such as procurement, maintenance, logistics, and quality.
- Communicate production status to senior management.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
- Promote safe work practices among staff.
- Reporting:
- Prepare production reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Monitor KPIs like output, downtime, and rejection rates.
