Are you a detail oriented professional enthusiastic about working alongside a knowledgeable and collaborative team with a passion for bankruptcy law? Miller Canfield is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal in our Detroit, MI office. This is a high-impact position responsible for keeping our bankruptcy practice on track by ensuring filings are correct and on time, helping us meet deadlines and drafting basic pleadings with care. Creative thinking and interpretation are often required, as we help clients deal with novel issues in courts nationwide, each with its own unique practice requirements.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • E-filing using CM/ECF in the Bankruptcy Court and District Court
  • Drafting and coordinating service and publication of various notices
  • Communicating with counsel and potential creditors
  • Reviewing and interpreting local court rules and procedures
  • Docket review and filing of pleadings
  • Drafting documents for attorney review including pro hac vice motions, stipulations and fee applications

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines and priorities
