Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications. Your expertise in machining processes, tooling, and measurement will ensure the highest quality standards are met while maintaining efficient production workflows. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative manufacturing projects in a fast-paced environment that values craftsmanship and technical skill.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, set up, and troubleshoot CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, primarily using Fanuc controls, ensuring precise execution of machining operations.
  • Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD/CAM files to produce accurate parts.
  • Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and modify existing programs as needed for continuous improvement.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions and quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery, tools, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and tooling to assist with assembly or secondary operations when required.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency while adhering to safety protocols and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with Fanuc controls or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, mechanical principles, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming using CAM software; experience with SolidWorks or CAD is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, and welding techniques is advantageous.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
  • Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine offsets; understanding of lean manufacturing practices preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills in tooling setup, assembly, use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other equipment necessary for machining operations.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work independently on second shift schedules in a fast-paced environment.
