2's Preschool Teacher

Christ & Holy Trinity Preschool, a Reggio-inspired preschool in the heart of Westport, CT, is currently looking for an experienced preschool teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. CHT Preschool offers a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that is inspired by the educational philosophy of the Reggio Emilia approach. This approach includes teacher facilitation of multi-disciplinary topic studies and project work based on the unique interests and developmental needs of the children in the class. By encouraging curiosity, exploration and collaboration on project work, we strive to instill a love of learning and support the physical, social, cognitive and creative growth of each child.

Position Description

We are currently looking for an experienced co-teacher for our Preschool.The staff hours are Monday through Friday from 8:45am -1:30pm and staff meeting hours are from 1:30pm-2:30pm every other Monday. There will also be an additional hour a week for Lesson planning and more hours are available for teaching in our extended day programs.

Qualifications

We are looking for a caring, compassionate individual who enjoys working with young children and families and who possesses the ability to work well in a co-teaching format to prepare and implement lesson plans and equally share classroom responsibilities.

Candidates must

  • Have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (with 12 credits in ECE) or be presently enrolled in an ECE degree program.
  • Have 1-2 years preschool teaching experience, preferably in a play-based, Reggio-inspired program
  • Have computer skills that include the ability to write weekly lesson plans and newsletters, and manage class photos for documentation and classroom displays
  • Have the ability to create a positive, nurturing classroom environment and provide a variety of enriching and developmentally appropriate activities based on child-interests and developmental needs
  • Maintain professional boundaries and mutually respectful relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and community partners, with the foundation of open communication, respect, and collaboration

Additional Skills/Qualifications Desired:

  • Knowledge of the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CTELDS) and ability to plan provocations and learning activities that scaffold skills in these areas and promote readiness for kindergarten
  • Experience documenting child development using the CTDOTS and experience preparing and conducting parent-teacher conferences
  • Knowledge and experience complying with NAEYC best practices and the CT State Licensing Regulations for child-care settings
  • Knowledge of the Reggio-Emilia philosophy, emergent curriculum, and how to implement the project approach
