About The Role
We are looking for a 3D Print Tool Designer with strong hands-on experience in 3D modeling and printing. This role focuses on designing and producing jigs, fixtures, and custom tools used in manufacturing and assembly processes. Ideal candidates will have practical experience with CAD software and 3D printers and be capable of turning ideas into functional printed tools quickly and accurately.
What You Will Do
- Design basic to moderately complex tools, fixtures, and jigs for production and assembly use.
- Use 3D CAD software (Creo, Fusion 360, SolidWorks) to model tool designs.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers (FDM, SLA, or others) to produce physical tools.
- Modify existing tool designs based on user feedback and production requirements. Iterate quickly on prototypes to validate function, form, and fit.
- Work closely with production teams to understand tooling needs and improve workflows.
- Document design files, revisions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist the production team with general continuous improvement projects.
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience with 3D modeling and slicing software.
- Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting 3D printers.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design and how parts fit and function together.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working in a workshop or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with continuous improvement practices in a factory setting is a plus.
- Associate’s degree in Drafting, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Design, or a related field. – OR –
- Technical certification or equivalent hands-on experience in 3D printing and CAD.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $26.59 - $32.02 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
