Job Title: Field Service Technician

Hours: 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday, some additional travel hours may be required outside normal business hours

Job Overview:
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service through in-person and virtual training sessions, performing machine repairs and refurbishments, and conducting on-site maintenance and repair visits. This role is critical in supporting our clients, ensuring their machines operate efficiently, and helping them maximize the potential of their digital fabrication tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Training & Support:
- Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions with clients who have purchased a ‘Launchpad’ package, providing them with an hour-long, machine-specific training.
- Lead training sessions for clients who purchase classes such as 3D Printing 101, Basic 3D Printer Slicer training, Basic and Advanced CNC training, Basic and Advanced Laser Cutter training, and other related courses.
- Offer ongoing technical support to clients post-training, ensuring their continued success with MatterHackers products.
Machine Repair & Refurbishment:
- On-site visits, installs, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on 3D printers (FormLabs, HP, Bambu, etc) CNC, laser cutters, and other digital manufacturing tech.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine issues, providing prompt and efficient repair services to minimize downtime for our clients.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and refurbishments, ensuring detailed documentation of work performed.
On-Site Service & Maintenance:
- Travel to established client locations within Northern California (potential for further travel) to perform repairs, maintenance, and scheduled service visits.
- Manage and execute maintenance plans for customers, ensuring their machines are kept in optimal working condition.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during on-site visits, addressing client concerns and providing solutions on the spot.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the sales and support teams to ensure seamless communication and service delivery to clients.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest digital fabrication technologies, including 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting, to provide knowledgeable support and training.
- Assist with the development of training materials and documentation as needed.
- Occasionally assist with in-house technical support and customer service inquiries during peak periods or as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prefer experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably in digital fabrication or related industries (not required)
- Strong technical knowledge of 3D printers and related software (e.g., slicers, CAD programs),knowledge of CNC machines and laser cutters a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients of varying skill levels.
- Ability to work independently and manage a schedule of service visits and training sessions.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Southern California.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
