SWC AcademyOnline Writing Coach (Grades 3–12)Position Overview
SWC Academy is seeking passionate, engaging, and growth-minded Writing Coaches to support students in Grades 3–12 through personalized online academic coaching. Our academy focuses on developing strong writers, critical thinkers, confident communicators, and academically prepared students through high-level writing instruction, grammar development, vocabulary enrichment, reading comprehension, and college readiness preparation.
At SWC Academy, we believe every student has the potential to grow when provided with structure, encouragement, accountability, and meaningful feedback. We are looking for coaches who are energetic, professional, relational, and committed to helping students build confidence both academically and personally.
Position ResponsibilitiesAcademic Instruction
- Teach 1-on-1 online writing and grammar sessions for students in Grades 3–12
- Support students in:
- Writing structure and organization
- Grammar and sentence fluency
- Vocabulary development
- Reading comprehension and analysis
- Critical thinking and communication skills
- Essay writing and revision
- Academic tone and sentence variation
- State testing preparation (CAASPP/SBAC)
- College preparation and personal statements (higher grade levels)
Student Support
- Build positive and encouraging relationships with students and families
- Create an engaging and supportive online learning environment
- Provide constructive feedback that encourages growth and confidence
- Adapt instruction based on student skill level and learning needs
- Encourage accountability, discipline, and academic growth
Communication & Professionalism
- Submit short progress updates after sessions
- Communicate professionally with parents and leadership staff
- Arrive prepared and on time for all sessions
- Maintain professionalism, positivity, and consistency
- Collaborate with SWC Academy leadership and coaching staff
QualificationsPreferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Education, English, Communication, Liberal Arts, or related field)
- Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching experience preferred
- Strong writing, grammar, and communication skills
- Comfortable teaching students across multiple grade levels
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills in an online setting
- Comfortable using Zoom, Google Docs, and online educational platforms

Position DetailsSchedule
- Part-time flexible evening and weekend hours available
- Sessions are conducted fully online
- Coaches may work with elementary, middle school, and/or high school students depending on experience and strengths
