3rd Shift Quality Assurance Bottling Technician

This position is based out of our Bardstown, KY location. The schedule is Sunday - Thursday from 11:00pm - 7:00am.

What the Role Is

The Quality Assurance (QA) Bottling Technician will support the Quality Assurance Lab by conducting inspections and tests to determine quality of raw materials, bulk, and finished products. This individual will inspect, test, sort, and sample raw materials, finished goods, and products for defects and deviations from specifications. The Technician will use precision measuring instruments and complex testing equipment and will be required to support and back up the Product Development Lab Technician and the Processing Department Technicians on an as needed basis to cover vacations, absenteeism, or during times of heavy workloads.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications
  • Make recommendations on quality and process improvement initiatives
  • Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, finished goods, or stability samples
  • Perform visual inspections of finished products
  • Inspect incoming packaging materials and raw materials as necessary
  • Completes organoleptic checks on incoming and outgoing tankers and bottling tanks
  • Investigate or report questionable test results
  • Place non-conforming product on hold using IFS Quality and/or Savannah programs as necessary
  • Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions
  • Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms
  • Coordinate changes and communicate with appropriate departments including Production, Maintenance, Export, and Shipping
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits
  • Assist with sensory evaluations of beverages to ensure that flavors meet specifications or to select samples with specific characteristics
  • Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments or equipment
  • Provide technical support or assistance to chemists or engineers
  • Determine and execute downtime chargebacks to vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate quality inspections for export orders, complete required quality alerts, and coordinate with WLD to get necessary rework/repairs completed
  • Perform assigned document control activities and develop new quality and process documents as identified
  • Serve as backup for and achieve proficiency on the QC Processing Technician duties: Proofing Tanks, Gauging bottling tanks, Processing bottling tank transactions in IFS System including the use of the IFS Quality module, Color & Clarity Checks, and Other Quality Inspections
  • Perform data entry on the following: Line audits, RMCs, GMP audits, Export audits, Dock audits. Serve as backup for and achieve proficiency on the Product Development Technician duties: Export Documentation, R&D Functions, Cost Reduction Projects, New Product Development, Flavor Profiles, Assisting with Quality Issues

Who You Are…

  • Associate’s Degree in Quality or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a quality department
  • Proficient computer skills with experience utilizing electronic mail software and Microsoft Office software
  • Technical skills in quality assurance
  • Experience using lab and measurement equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or related field
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience in a distilled spirits industry

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to:

  • Stand; extensively walk; climb stairs and may be required to climb ladders
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
