3rd Shift Utility Driver

Job Title: 3rd Shift Hi-Lo (Forklift) Driver

Pay Range: $15.25 - 17.25/hour depending on experience

Department: Production / Shipping & Receiving
Shift: 3rd Shift
Reports To: Production Supervisor

Position Summary

Plasti-Paint is seeking an experienced and safety-focused 3rd Shift Hi-Lo Driver to support production operations by transporting plastic parts and materials throughout the facility. This position is responsible for moving shipping containers and pallets using a powered industrial truck (Hi-Lo/forklift) and manual pallet jacks to ensure materials are delivered to and removed from designated production, quality, and warehouse areas in a timely and efficient manner.

Because this position operates within active production and quality areas, the ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional awareness of their surroundings and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a Hi-Lo (forklift) in a safe and efficient manner throughout the facility.
  • Transport plastic parts and shipping containers to appropriate production, quality, warehouse, and staging areas.
  • Remove completed product and empty containers from production lines as needed.
  • Utilize manual pallet jacks to move materials when appropriate.
  • Load, unload, and stage materials to support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Safely navigate around employees, equipment, and workstations in high-traffic areas.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report any mechanical concerns or safety issues immediately.
  • Maintain accurate identification and organization of materials and containers.
  • Keep aisles, staging areas, and workspaces clean and free from obstructions.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with production, quality, and supervisory personnel regarding material needs and movement.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support plant operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous forklift/Hi-Lo experience is required.
  • Prior experience operating in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks in close proximity to employees and production equipment.
  • Experience using manual pallet jacks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit forklift equipment repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving equipment.
  • Must possess adequate vision and depth perception to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a 5 panel drug screen.

Work Environment

This position regularly works in production, quality, warehouse, and shipping areas where exposure to moving machinery, powered industrial equipment, and frequent employee foot traffic is common. Strict adherence to all safety requirements, including pedestrian awareness and safe operating practices, is essential.
