4th Grade ELA Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 4th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. In this role, you will create engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, support students’ literacy development, and cultivate a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and growth. Your enthusiasm for education and commitment to student success will be vital in helping students reach their full potential academically and socially.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans focused on literacy education, writing skills, and reading comprehension tailored to 4th grade standards.
  • Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction and engage students in interactive learning experiences.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparations, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, specialists (such as special education teachers), and parents to support individual student needs, including those with autism or requiring early intervention.
  • Incorporate curriculum development best practices to continuously improve instructional methods and materials.
  • Mentor new teachers or teaching assistants, providing guidance on lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional techniques.
  • Support students’ social-emotional development by fostering respectful communication skills and encouraging active participation in class activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literacy Education, Early Childhood Education or a related field; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification/license for elementary education or equivalent credentials.
  • Proven classroom experience working with children in grades 3–5, especially in literacy and language arts instruction.
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, proofreading, tutoring, and working with diverse learners including those with special needs or requiring early intervention services.
  • Familiarity with learning technology tools and library services that support literacy growth.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and assessment methods to monitor student progress effectively.
