We are seeking a 508 Subject Matter Expert II to support the FDIC in providing expert-level professional experience in bringing agency-wide awareness and implementation activities that emphasize key tenets of Section 508 compliance, which will bring added value to the workplace by institutionalizing Section 508 across all FDIC Program Offices.
Salary Range: $95,000-$125,000
Position Location: Remote/Telework Environment, may occasionally go onsite to the FDIC locations as requested.
Required: DHS Section 508 Trusted Testers (TT), version 5.0 or higher, and WCAG 2.1 (AA)
Required Tools Experience:
- Adobe Acrobat Pro + CommonLook
- Assistive tech (JAWS, NVDA, etc.)
- Accessibility testing tools (Axe, etc.)
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or experience commensurate with education level
- 7+ years’ experience in a similar or associated role working with cross-functional teams and the customer
- Experience supporting federal government customers or working in a government environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and cultivate a strong team environment
- Must be capable of managing and controlling schedules and costs to provide on time, within budget, performance of all aspects of the contractual effort
- Possesses excellent verbal, presentation, writing, and customer service skills and leadership skills, including personal management and project/task management, to accomplish contract requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software, SharePoint, and other communications related software programs.
- FDIC or government contracting experience
Program Governance & Oversight
- Lead the execution and continuous improvement of the Section 508 compliance program
- Responsible for ensuring accessibility is embedded across:
- SDLC governance processes
- Agile development frameworks
- Establish and maintain program standards, processes, and performance metrics
OMB Annual Reporting & Executive Support
- Lead development and delivery of the OMB Section 508 Annual Assessment
- Consolidate SME inputs into executive-level reports and presentations
- Provide briefings and materials for:
- Senior leadership
- CIO Council and governance boards
- Manage and oversee Trusted Tester SMEs, ensuring:
- Quality and consistency of testing outputs
- Timely completion of deliverables
- Coordinate workload across:
- ICT testing requests
- Sprint cycles
- Reporting deadlines
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
- Serve as the primary interface with:
- FDIC leadership
- Program offices
- IT and development teams
- Establish and manage Section 508 liaisons across divisions
- Facilitate collaboration between technical teams and business stakeholders
- Ensure Section 508 requirements are consistently applied across all IT acquisitions
- Review and approve accessibility language in procurement documentation
- Coordinate with contracting and legal teams to maintain compliance
- Oversee development and execution of:
- Section 508 training strategy
- Agency-wide outreach initiatives
- Support disability awareness and accessibility events
- Promote a culture of accessibility across the organization
- Identify gaps and implement improvements to strengthen the agency’s 508 program
- Provide strategic recommendations to enhance:
- Accessibility maturity
- Compliance processes
- Ensure delivery of both on-site and virtual program support services
- Prepares and delivers weekly status reports to the agency
- Applies ArcSource’s CMMI-appraised PMP processes, tools, and templates to effectively manage the project according to customer-preferred industry best practices and methodologies (i.e., PMI PMBoK, Agile, SAFe, Waterfall, etc.)
- Actively participates in monthly Project Management Review sessions with ArcSource leadership to review program progress, discuss roadblocks, and celebrate accomplishments
- Builds effective relationships with government customers and maintains effective client interface with the COR
- Ensures adequate staffing levels are maintained throughout the period of performance and supports surge hire efforts
- Ensures project tasks are executed according to the plan and comply with government requirements
- Provides subject matter expertise and actively participates in business development and proposal activities when requested
- Identifies and shapes new business development opportunities with the client
