6th -8th grade Lead Teacher for Christian Afterschool and Summer Program

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 6th-8th grade Lead Teacher to oversee our Christian Afterschool and Summer Program. This role is vital in creating a nurturing, engaging, and faith-based environment for children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, experience working with children, and a passion for fostering spiritual growth alongside academic and social development. This position offers an opportunity to lead a team while making a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners through faith-based activities and educational enrichment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement age-appropriate curriculum that integrates Christian values, academic social and leadership skills.
  • Manage classroom activities to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children of various ages.
  • Supervise and support assistant teachers and volunteers, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Foster positive behavior management strategies to promote respectful interactions and conflict resolution among children.
  • Coordinate daily schedules, including lessons, recreational activities, spiritual teachings, and special events.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and program updates.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and health guidelines.
  • Incorporate faith-based and spiritual activities that support children's moral development.
  • Organize summer program, coaching and leadership activities, or other enrichment programs as part of the curriculum.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating Christian values and fostering a supportive community atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings such as daycare, preschool, camp counseling, tutoring, or babysitting.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create an organized and nurturing learning environment.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques.
  • Certification or training in first aid is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified.
  • Experience with special education needs or early childhood education is advantageous.
  • Ability to lead activities that promote physical activity and creative expression.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, staff, and community members.
  • A genuine passion for Christian principles and integrating faith into daily activities.
  • Must demonstrate patience, flexibility, creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility in working with young children. This role is ideal for individuals committed to nurturing children's growth academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually within a faith-based environment.
