Position Overview:


Apave America is currently a qualified professional to join our team as a senior Regional Quality Manager located in the Mid-East Region! Up to 50% travel required. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and a thorough understanding of ISO standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance, quality assurance, and operational excellence across various projects and locations. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in dynamic environments.


Key Responsibilities:


General Responsibilities


  • Provide technical mentoring to NDT personnel, reinforcing procedural understanding, method application, and adherence to client and code requirements through coaching, site visits, and informal training.
  • Conduct field and site-level quality audits to assess procedural compliance, inspection quality, and technician performance. Support operational teams by identifying opportunities for immediate correction or targeted improvement.
  • Monitor quality trends, audit results, and field reports to identify recurring issues or early indicators of nonconformance. Promote proactive behaviors and technical accountability within the inspection team.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of equipment tracking and calibration programs by ensuring technicians are trained in the proper use, documentation, and storage of approved equipment.
  • Deliver technical training to field personnel, ensuring that expectations for method application, documentation, and procedural compliance are clearly communicated and reinforced.
  • Support the quality function during client visits, audits, or issue resolution, as required and in collaboration with the U.S. Quality Manager. Communicate method-specific expectations and reinforce alignment with approved procedures and quality standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and lead site-level quality communications as needed, ensuring field personnel receive timely updates on procedural changes, audit findings, and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing lessons learned and practical field insights with quality leadership.
  • Model and reinforce a culture of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Quality (ISO 9001 – Operational Control, Auditing, Technical Competence, Nonconforming Outputs)


  • Provide field-level troubleshooting and method-specific support within certified methods. Where qualified, act as a subject matter resource to assist with procedural interpretation and technical problem-solving.
  • Conduct internal field audits and job site evaluations to verify procedural compliance, personnel competency, and inspection consistency.
  • Draft, review, and maintain technical procedures, work instructions, and method-specific documentation in alignment with applicable standards and internal requirements.
  • Support field personnel by communicating quality expectations related to inspection methods, acceptance criteria, documentation standards, and procedural application.
  • Participate in investigations of nonconformances or quality events as required, contributing technical insight and supporting root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide input to document revisions, system improvements, and training needs based on audit findings, field observations, and client feedback.
  • Assist in client communications related to technical method issues, procedural clarification, or inspection quality, in coordination with quality leadership.

Occupational Health & Safety (ISO 45001 – Operational Control, Technical Integration, Field Support)


  • Ensure inspection procedures, training materials, and field audits incorporate method-specific safety controls and proper PPE usage.
  • Support the safe use of NDT equipment and materials by verifying alignment between technical guidance and HSE requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations where inspection techniques or technical conditions may be contributing factors.

Environmental Management (ISO 14001 – Waste Management, Hazard Control)


  • Promote environmentally responsible inspection practices by ensuring NDT methods follow proper waste handling and spill prevention controls.
  • Reinforce environmental controls during audits, technician training, and field visits as applicable.

Working Conditions


  • This is a hybrid role with a mix of office and field duties. Field audits, technician observations, and site support will involve travel to active industrial sites and job locations.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, elevated noise, confined spaces, and operational hazards should be expected during site visits. Proper PPE will be required.
  • Travel will vary based on project needs and may include overnight stays or visits to remote job sites on short notice.

Physical & Mental Requirements


  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb stairs in both office and industrial environments, including navigating uneven surfaces and wearing PPE as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel regularly and independently between offices, client locations, and field sites.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting work hours, including availability during evenings, weekends, or high-demand operational periods.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to manage competing priorities and high-pressure situations.

Required Experience and Qualifications:


  • This role requires travel up to 50% of the time
  • Must hold valid NDT Level II or III certifications in one or more methods per the company’s Written Practice (SNT-TC-1A or equivalent). Level III certifications are strongly preferred and may be developed in role as part of ongoing competency progression.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in NDT inspection with progressive responsibility in procedure development, auditing, or technician oversight.
  • Flexibility to accommodate 24/7 schedules.
  • Valid Driver’s License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
  • Pre-employment background checks will be required.
  • Valid TWIC Card is required.
  • Current IRRSP Card or State Card required.
  • Proficiency with digital platforms used for auditing, recordkeeping, training, and quality-related data entry.
  • Proven ability to mentor technicians, deliver technical training, and validate method-specific competency through performance evaluations.
  • Demonstrates and promotes ethical conduct, professional integrity, and respect for confidentiality in all work activities. Leads by example in upholding accurate reporting, protecting sensitive information, and maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to falsification, misconduct, or breaches of trust.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and technical report writing skills.
  • Proven strong problem-solving ability with attention to root cause.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent Analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient Computer skills using Microsoft products such as (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying industry codes and standards to field inspection activities.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting technical audits or field evaluations related to procedural compliance, inspection quality, or method application. Familiarity with ISO 9001 is expected.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including the ability to draft or revise procedures and work instructions.
  • PMI/Hardness/Ferrite Testing will be considered an asset.
  • CR/DDA certifications/experience would be considered an asset.
  • Vast experience performing NDT methods and techniques, and interpreting relevant discontinuities in a variety of environments, such as Fabrication Facilities, Refineries, and Pipelines, in accordance with multiple codes, standards, and specifications is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the qualification requirements of NDT personnel to SNT-TC-1A; Knowledge of qualification requirements for CP-189 and NAS-410 would be considered an asset.
