Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a love for science through engaging instruction and innovative teaching methods. Duties
- Develop and deliver comprehensive science lessons aligned with curriculum standards for middle school students, focusing on core areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences.
- Incorporate learning technology and instructional design strategies to create interactive and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Facilitate laboratory experiments, dissections, and scientific research projects to enhance hands-on understanding of concepts like cell biology, genetics, microbiology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and differential equations.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and classroom management skills to foster a positive learning environment.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project evaluations; provide timely feedback and academic advising to support individual growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and integrating new educational tools or library services to enrich the science program.
- Mentor students in scientific research projects and prepare them for science competitions or standardized assessments; support tutoring initiatives as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and participation; ensure proofreading of all instructional materials for clarity and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in education administration or special education are preferred.
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle school science with demonstrated success in engaging students across diverse backgrounds.
- Strong knowledge of science disciplines including biology (cell biology, genetics), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (geometry, trigonometry), mathematics (algebra, calculus), microbiology, molecular biology, discrete math, and higher education teaching techniques.
- Experience with laboratory procedures such as dissection techniques and microbiology experiments; familiarity with research laboratory practices is advantageous.
- Proficiency in working with learning technology platforms and instructional design tools to enhance lesson delivery.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Ability to manage classrooms effectively while fostering a safe and inclusive environment conducive to learning.
- Skills in curriculum development, lesson planning, proofreading educational materials, and preparing students for standardized testing.
- Experience working in private schools or Montessori settings is a plus; familiarity with behavior management strategies and special education accommodations is highly desirable. Pay: $42,796.83 - $71,000.00 per year
