Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate 8th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to inspire and guide students through their critical middle school years. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster literacy, creative expression, and analytical thinking among young learners. Duties

  • Design and deliver comprehensive ELA lessons aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating creative writing, journalism, and literary analysis.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that integrate learning technology and instructional design principles to enhance student understanding.
  • Utilize AP style guidelines and Chicago Manual of Style for teaching writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Mentor students in developing strong literacy skills through targeted tutoring, research projects, and individualized support.
  • Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and classroom observations; adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment with effective classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and school-wide initiatives to promote academic excellence.
  • Incorporate linguistics concepts and library services into lessons to deepen students’ understanding of language structure and usage.
  • Support diverse learners by applying special education strategies and differentiating instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching methods, Montessori approaches (if applicable), or other educational philosophies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification for middle school or secondary education with a focus on ELA or language arts.
  • Proven classroom experience working with middle school students in literacy education or related subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, copy editing, proofreading, and research methodologies.
  • Experience integrating learning technology tools into the classroom environment effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Organizational skills necessary for lesson planning, record keeping, and managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Ability to implement behavior management techniques that foster a respectful and productive classroom atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and preparation strategies for assessments at the middle school level.

Pay: $30.00 - $65,843.33 per year
