Duties

• Answer incoming emergency calls promptly using multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
• Gather essential information from callers through effective phone triage to assess the nature and severity of incidents.
• Dispatch law enforcement, fire, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), and other emergency responders efficiently using GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools.
• Provide clear instructions to callers on first aid procedures, medical terminology, or crisis management as needed.
• Maintain accurate data entry and transcription of incident details into dispatch systems with high typing speed and attention to detail.
• Monitor security cameras and analyze situational data to support ongoing emergency response efforts.
• Manage conflict situations with negotiation skills and conflict management techniques to de-escalate tense interactions.
• Collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies and medical personnel to coordinate effective responses during critical incidents.
• Document all communications thoroughly in dispatch logs and incident reports for future reference.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times while managing sensitive information securely.

Skills

• Proven experience with EMD(Emergency Medical Dispatch) procedures or background in emergency medical services is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of GIS mapping, GPS navigation, and multi-line phone systems enhances dispatch efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—are essential for clear instructions and effective coordination.
• Ability to type quickly and accurately while transcribing detailed incident reports under pressure.
• Analytical skills for assessing situations rapidly and making sound decisions in high-stress environments.
• Proficiency in using data entry systems, transcription tools, and understanding medical terminology.
• Conflict management abilities to handle distressed callers professionally while maintaining control of the situation.
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple calls simultaneously while prioritizing urgent incidents.
• Must not have any serious misdemeanor or felony convictions.
