911 Dispatcher-Level I Public Safety Telecommunicator

The Garland County 911 Communications Center is accepting applications for the Level I Public Safety Telecommunicator position to fill an open position and build a pool of applicants for future openings.

Dedicated Application for Employment

The 911 Communications Center dispatches, logs, records, and maintains records for approximately 27 local, state, and federal agencies. Dispatches over 50,000 calls for service to our 19 partner agencies, specifically, and handles between 300,000 and 400,000 phone interactions per year.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to pass a complete and extensive FBI background check. This job requires various levels of experience, from basic computer skills to currently holding 911, ACIC, and NIMS certifications, or the ability to obtain these certifications within six months of hire or have a combination of qualities and experience that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to sufficiently perform the job. Specific job experience is not required, but preference will be given to currently certified or experienced Telecommunicators.

2026 Anticipated Starting Salary: Approximately $20.62 per hour / $46,108.95 per year - Plus full county benefits
All applicants are subject to pre-employment, random drug screening, and full physical and psychological evaluations, before employment. This position requires shift work, with no implication or guarantee of a particular or continued shift assignment, consisting of the following;
Day shift – 6 am to 2 pm
Swing shift – 2 pm to 10 pm
Graveyard shift – 10 pm to 6 am
