Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented ABA Authorization Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing authorization processes for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, ensuring timely and accurate approval of treatment plans. Your expertise will help facilitate seamless communication between providers, insurance companies, and patients, supporting the delivery of high-quality behavioral health care. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to patient outcomes while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and process authorization requests for ABA therapy services, ensuring all documentation complies with insurance requirements and medical guidelines.
- Verify insurance coverage, including managed care plans, and facilitate authorization approvals or denials accordingly.
- Collaborate with medical providers to gather necessary clinical information, including medical records and treatment plans.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
- Utilize medical coding expertise, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology)
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies to follow up on authorization statuses and resolve any issues promptly.
- Maintain organized records of all authorization requests, approvals, denials, and related correspondence in compliance with medical office standards.
- Support the team with additional administrative tasks such as insurance verification and updating medical records as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on payer-specific requirements and authorization processes.
- Coordinate with BCBAs regarding treatment plans and required documentation
- Maintain accurate authorization records and tracking systems
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification procedures is essential.
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, marketplace, and Medicaid plans.
- Experience with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality is necessary.
- ABA clinic experience or background in medical office administration will be considered a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
