Responsibilities: Provides high-level assistance and technical support to the Nursing Program through oversight of nursing laboratory operations. The Academic Lab Manager is responsible for the administration, coordination, and maintenance of nursing skills laboratories and simulation environments in alignment with ACEN Standards and Criteria. This role supports faculty in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective learning experiences, ensuring compliance with program objectives, institutional policies, and state and federal regulations. The Academic Lab Manager plays a critical role related to learning resources, student support, and teaching effectiveness. This is not a teaching position.

Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Licensed Practical Nursing or related healthcare field, with two or more years recent experience in clinical nursing or related healthcare. Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred. Prior experience in academic lab or simulation management is preferred. If nursing degree, must have a current unencumbered license as an RN or LPN in West Virginia.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be people-oriented with a strong commitment to excellent customer service, demonstrating a people-first attitude, patience, attentiveness, creativity, and resourcefulness. Must be able to multi-task to meet a variety of goals; have flexibility to address changing demands during the course of the day; and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage infrastructure and material resources such as equipment. Must have excellent organization skills with attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and effective learning environment. Must have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and be familiar with medical equipment, simulators, and supplies. Proficiency in computer skills is required, along with the ability to move about inside the academic lab for extended period of standing, walking, and constantly positioning self to maintain computers and to monitor students in the lab, and performing hands-on demonstrations. Must be able to move equipment and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and have a working knowledge of all lab procedures, while maintaining flexibility and confidentiality. Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
