About the role:

At the University of Canberra, we are committed to supporting our international students to thrive academically and professionally. We are seeking a self driven and highly motivated Academic Lead to lead strategic initiatives that strengthen English and academic skills development for international students in health related courses.

In this leadership role, you will collaborate with staff and students across the Faculty to design and deliver impactful academic support programs. You will play a vital role in integrating targeted language and learning initiatives into the Faculty's educational and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) strategies, bridging communication gaps and creating a more connected and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver academic study modules for international health students aligned with UC's WIL and assessment frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Faculty educators to enhance academic support across the international student journey.
  • Develop and deliver a Faculty focused evaluation strategy (including but not limited to SOTL/Research) to demonstrate impact of interventions on international students' success in both coursework and work integrated learning.
About you:
  • Self driven, highly motivated, and passionate about enhancing international student success.
  • Strong awareness of the academic and cultural challenges faced by international students in higher education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge gaps and engage effectively across diverse groups.
  • Ability to collaborate with academic and professional staff to deliver impactful learning initiatives.
  • A PhD in a related Health Science discipline is desirable; candidates who have commenced a PhD are also encouraged to apply.
