Bay Area Tutoring Association is a dedicated nonprofit committed to strengthening foundational academic skills and executive functioning among elementary school students in the Sunnyvale region. We are currently hiring Elementary School Tutors to provide high-dosage academic intervention and in-classroom support in Sunnyvale public schools.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing careers in education, teaching, child development, literacy, or math instruction.

Job Type Part-Time (Morning Hours)

Schedule

• Monday-Thursday
• Approximately 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (start time may vary slightly)

• Vargas Elementary School
• San Miguel Elementary School

Position Overview

Tutors provide structured, small-group instruction in Math and/or English Language Arts within elementary classrooms. Tutors work alongside teachers to support differentiated instruction and accelerate student learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide small-group math and reading instruction
• Deliver targeted academic intervention
• Reinforce literacy and foundational math skills
• Support classroom engagement and learning routines
• Track attendance and basic academic progress
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-aged students
• Strong reading and/or math proficiency
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working in a school environment
• Bilingual Spanish-English strongly preferred

Requirements:

• Passion for education and helping students succeed. Effective communication skills and patience with students of varying ages and abilities. Commitment to consistent attendance during your chosen shifts.
• BATA onboarding requirements (Background check, online training, TB Scan)

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
