Access Control Technician

Position Overview

We are looking for a technician who enjoys working with structured systems, technical documentation, and precise installations. In this role, you will work with electronic access control and related low-voltage security equipment, helping install and maintain systems that protect facilities and manage secure entry.

The ideal candidate approaches technical work methodically, enjoys diagnosing system issues, and takes pride in maintaining accurate documentation of installations and service activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure electronic access control equipment and related security devices
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on access control and security systems
  • Conduct scheduled service checks and preventative maintenance on installed hardware
  • Assist with system start-up, testing, and commissioning during installation projects
  • Maintain clear service documentation including system configurations and work performed
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical documentation
  • Work with project teams to ensure installations follow project plans and schedules
  • Provide guidance to customers on proper system use and operational basics
  • Follow applicable safety procedures, electrical standards, and building codes during field work
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies within electronic security and access control

Qualifications

  • Experience installing or servicing access control systems or electronic security equipment
  • Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, structured cabling, and device installation
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and system documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical records
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with customers and project teams
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
  • Experience working in field service, security systems, or structured cabling environments preferred

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
