Access VBA Developer

Role description

We are seeking an experienced Access VBA Developer to maintain, enhance, and assist in modernizing automated solutions within billing and other financial processes. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in VBA and Sql Server programming and a solid understanding of data analysis, reporting, and process automation. Experience with Azure based functions, and additional programming languages are a strong plus.

Skills

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Access applications using VBA.
• Design and implement solutions to migrate Access databases to SQL Server.
• Debug, optimize, and enhance existing VBA code.
• Document current processes and enhance for efficiency. Provide documentation for migrated systems.
• Convert Access queries, forms, and reports to work with SQL Server back-end.
• Create and maintain stored procedures, views, and triggers in SQL Server.
• Ensure data integrity and performance during migration and integration.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Ensure data integrity and implement access-privilege, error-handling and logging mechanisms.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Access VBA programming and macros.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Access database design and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and schema design.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize performance in hybrid Access/SQL environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Access to SQL Server data migration tools.
• Understanding of ETL processes and data transformation best practices.
• Experience with Azure environment and functionality
• Experience with a programming or scripting language such as JAVA, C#, or Python

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in Access VBA development and SQL Server integration/migration.
