Job Description:

Madison College is seeking a limited-term Accessibility Liaison and Compliance Coordinator. This role supports the advancement of the College's accessibility and compliance efforts. The role supports institution-wide initiatives to ensure that physical spaces and digital assets-including facilities, services, programs, websites, and electronic resources-comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA. The position requires a comprehensive, cross-functional understanding of accessibility across both physical and digital environments to promote equitable access for the entire campus community.

The Accessibility Liaison and Compliance Coordinator partners with campus stakeholders to advance inclusive design, conduct accessibility reviews, and provide guidance on accessible spaces, programs, and digital materials. The role requires working knowledge of accessibility standards and tools, the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and the capability to manage projects from assessment through implementation.

POSITION DETAILS: This position is a full time, limited-term position ending on June 30, 2026. Many of our excellent full-time benefits are available including health, dental and vision. This position offers the potential for a hybrid work schedule (up to three days remote per week). Remote work options are subject to change per Madison College policy.

Accountabilities:

  • Assists in coordinating and implementing the college's digital accessibility compliance program, in collaboration with IT, Marketing & Communications, Academic Affairs, and Disability Resource Services.
  • Provides consultation, guidance, and training to faculty, staff, and departments on designing, developing, and maintaining accessible digital content, documents, and learning materials.
  • Conducts accessibility audits and evaluations of websites, intranet sites, digital documents, multimedia, social media content, and software applications to ensure compliance with institutional policy and applicable federal and state accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508, ADA).
  • Provides technical expertise and procedural support to identify, prioritize, and remediate accessibility barriers in collaboration with content owners.
  • Develops and delivers accessibility training materials, workshops, and resources to build institutional awareness and capacity.
  • Collaborates with Purchasing and Technology Services to review vendor products and services for accessibility compliance and ensures accessibility requirements are included in contracts and evaluations.
  • Coordinates captioning, transcription, and other media accessibility services for instructional and non-instructional digital content.
  • Performs administrative and reporting functions to support accessibility compliance documentation, tracking, and communication.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining digital accessibility policies, procedures, and best-practice guidelines.
  • Stays up to date with the latest digital accessibility standards, guidelines, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our digital accessibility practices.
  • Engages with students and employees with disabilities to gather feedback on accessibility experiences and identify opportunities for improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable federal and state accessibility laws and standards, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and Section 508, as well as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey accessibility concepts and technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills to identify, evaluate, and assist in remediating accessibility barriers in digital content and platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising initiative to propose, plan, and implement accessibility improvements across departments.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies such as screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA) and other tools used to test or enhance digital accessibility.
  • Experience with accessibility evaluation methods such as manual, automated, and hybrid testing processes using tools such as WAVE, Axe DevTools, and Color Contrast Analyzer.
  • Skill in project coordination, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, track progress, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to providing excellent service to faculty, staff, students, and external partners in support of inclusive digital experiences.
  • Proficiency with common software and platforms, including Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat/PDF accessibility tools, and social media platforms, with an understanding of accessibility best practices within these environments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. An Associate's degree may be considered with equivalent additional work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) plus years of relevant, professional experience, coordinating or managing projects from assessment through implementation and working knowledge of digital accessibility standards and practices, including the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA) and methods for conducting accessibility audits and evaluations.
