Position Overview

The Account Director is the senior client relationship lead within the Client Services department. Reporting to the Head of Client Services, this role oversees a portfolio of major accounts and manages a team of Account Managers and Account Executives to ensure exceptional delivery, strategic alignment, and long-term client satisfaction.


Account Directors serve as trusted advisors to clients, ensuring contractual obligations are met, agency performance is upheld, and relationships are nurtured at senior levels. They excel at stakeholder management, guiding internal teams, ensuring operational excellence, and leading onboarding processes and presentations for new business opportunities.


This role requires a strong commercial mindset, flexible work schedule, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to manage both teams and complex client portfolios - under pressure in a fast-paced agency environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Client Leadership & Senior Relationship Management

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for major accounts, ensuring communication, expectations, and delivery remain aligned.
  • Build and maintain strong, strategic client relationships across senior stakeholders.
  • Oversee the execution of contractual obligations, ensuring scope adherence and high-quality delivery.
  • Provide proactive counsel to clients, helping them navigate social media and digital marketing strategy.
  • Attend senior-level client meetings, quarterly reviews, and strategic planning sessions.


2. Team Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead and mentor a team of Account Managers and Account Executives, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and excellence in delivery.
  • Oversee the full execution of workstreams managed by the client services team—content calendars, reporting, production coordination, and approvals.
  • Ensure Account Managers and Executives maintain high standards of communication, documentation, and client care.
  • Conduct performance check-ins, provide feedback, and support the professional development of team members.


3. Strategic Account Delivery & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all client-facing outputs meet agency quality standards before submission.
  • Guide the development of monthly content calendars, campaign recommendations, and reporting insights.
  • Oversee production planning, shoot coordination, and live coverage requirements for key accounts.
  • Resolve issues swiftly by coordinating with Production, Design, Digital Marketing, and Media Buying teams.


4. Commercial Management & Contractual Stewardship

  • Ensure that scopes of work are adhered to and manage conversations around scope expansions or contractual clarifications.
  • Identify risks to delivery and escalate appropriately to the Head of Client Services.
  • Support renewals and upsell opportunities through strategic recommendations and performance-driven insights.
  • Work with leadership to ensure account profitability and resource allocation remain balanced.


5. Client Onboarding & New Business

  • Lead client onboarding sessions, workshops, and discovery meetings to establish strategic direction and internal workflows.
  • Participate in new business pitches, proposal presentations, and chemistry meetings as required.
  • Oversee transition of new accounts into steady-state servicing by Account Managers once stabilised.
  • Ensure all onboarding documentation, insights gathering, and expectation-setting processes are followed consistently.


6. Reporting, Insights & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly performance reports and strategic recommendations.
  • Identify patterns, opportunities, and challenges across accounts and drive process improvements with the Head of Client Services.
  • Support the rollout of client satisfaction surveys and follow-through on action plans (aligned with departmental KPIs).
  • Encourage a culture of accountability, best practices, and client-centricity across the team.


Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in client servicing, account leadership, or digital/social media management within an agency environment.
  • Proven experience managing major accounts and leading teams.
  • Strong commercial understanding of scopes, contracts, and delivery obligations.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, analytics, and digital marketing best practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English & Arabic) preferred.
  • Experience with production coordination, content strategy, and campaign reporting is a strong advantage.
